Dear Potential Donors, I have the privilege of spending my days instructing, encouraging, and challenging some of the most incredible young people in one of the poorer areas of Los Angeles. In addition to ELA instruction, I place high expectations on my students to improve their personal reading habits. As a result, many of my English learners reclassify each year! It is such a thrill to see the lights click on in their heads as they make increasingly more complex connections with each book they read. Poverty should never be the reason why an individual does not reach their potential, but with your help, we can ensure that some of these really intelligent but underprivileged students experience a greater measure of academic success!
