The glue gun set and mini glue sticks will be used for hands-on projects, classroom displays, and STEM activities that encourage creativity and collaboration. The computer stand, keyboard, and mouse combo will help create a more organized and comfortable workstation for classroom technology use. One of our first projects will be creating student identity displays where students will design and assemble personalized projects that showcase their interests, goals, and strengths. These supplies will help make those projects more engaging and durable.\r\nSince students have not yet returned for the new school year, they have not seen the materials in person. However, I am excited to introduce these new resources when school begins in August. I know many students will be thrilled to have additional supplies available for creative projects and hands-on learning experiences. Having the necessary materials ready before the first day of school helps create an inviting classroom environment and allows students to jump right into learning.\r\nAs we prepare for the upcoming school year, the next steps for my students will focus on building classroom community, developing collaboration skills, and establishing strong learning routines. Students will participate in introductory STEM challenges, writing activities, and project-based learning experiences that encourage teamwork and problem-solving. The donated supplies will play an important role in helping students create projects, organize their learning spaces, and use classroom technology effectively. These resources have made an immediate and positive impact in our classroom.\r\n\r\nMy students use these materials daily to help keep our learning environment clean, organized, and welcoming. One memorable moment occurred during a collaborative project when students worked together to create presentations and classroom displays. At the end of the activity, they eagerly used the cleaning supplies to tidy their work areas, taking ownership of our classroom space and showing pride in their learning environment.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, they were excited and grateful. Many immediately volunteered to help organize and distribute the supplies. They were especially enthusiastic about the handheld vacuum cleaners and couldn't wait to use them. Their excitement showed them that others care about their success and comfort at school.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the school year, students will use these resources to maintain a clean classroom while working on group projects, independent assignments, and classroom presentations. We are also focusing on building responsibility and teamwork skills, and these supplies help students contribute to our classroom community by caring for shared spaces and materials. A clean and organized environment allows students to stay focused, productive, and ready to learn each day.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our students and helping create a positive learning space where they can thrive. Many of the new books support our work in art, identity, social justice, contemporary culture, and storytelling, helping students make meaningful connections between their own lives and the topics we explore in class.\r\n\r\nHaving an updated library also encourages independent curiosity and reading in a very natural way. Students who may not typically seek out books have been picking them up during work time, discussing them with classmates, and using them as inspiration for their own creative projects and research. The books have helped strengthen both literacy and creative thinking in our classroom.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these materials help students feel seen and valued. Students place their phones in the lockbox at the start of class, removing the distraction entirely rather than asking them to resist it. With these texts, we are focusing on critical thinking strategies such as analyzing theme, tracking character development, and making text-to-self and text-to-world connections. Students are also practicing close reading skills, including citing textual evidence and interpreting figurative language. The variety of genres now available, ranging from realistic fiction to informational texts, allows us to tailor lessons to different reading levels while also exposing students to new perspectives and topics they might not encounter otherwise. One book in particular, Out of My Mind, has quickly become a class favorite, students are fully engaged in Melody's story and are developing empathy while discussing her challenges and perspective.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is an active and collaborative experience. Students engage in independent reading, small group discussions, and guided instruction where we model strategies and think aloud together. Our read-aloud time has become a highlight of the day, especially with Out of My Mind, students look forward to it and are genuinely disappointed when we have to miss it. They respond to their reading through journals, discussions, and creative projects that deepen their understanding. Several students who were previously reluctant readers have shown increased enthusiasm, and it's been especially meaningful to see students connect emotionally with the characters and recommend books to one another, strengthening our classroom reading community.","fullyFundedDate":1774051929206,"projectUrl":"project/unlocking-every-voice-books-belonging/10129456/","projectTitle":"Unlocking Every Voice: Books, Belonging, and Brave Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Mootry","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2318435_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1475169060572","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2318435"},{"teacherId":6308228,"projectId":10142418,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your contribution to our classroom library.
