The headphones have been especially helpful during our reading and technology centers, allowing students to work independently at their own pace without distractions. My classes are enjoying the new items in our sensory room. It has helped us have a nice calming area for our students who get over stimulated. The spinning seat is a favorite for our Autistic students. It helps them deregulate.\r\nThis school year the tent, weighted animal, and rain sticks have been particularly helpful. We have had a large amount of Pre-K Autistic students enroll. They have never been in school and their emotions are every where. The items help them immensely.\r\nThe kids also like to use the items on indoor recess days. It gives them a place to go when stuck inside and they can't get there energy out. We do art projects here, we do our testing here, we also do our small groups at this table. It also serves as a place to display various things we are going over in our classroom. When I explained to the students that someone help provide this table for us to use, their faces lit up with excitement. I love that I was able to explain how kind multiple people were to gift this to our class. \r\n\r\nOur containers serve as book holders for our various themes in our class. It is wonderful to go to each container and easily find the books we will need to use for our next theme. This has been such a wonderful way to help keep our books neat and organized. I was going to store these books in our theme tubs and that would make each container very heavy and not last over time. \r\n\r\nAs a first year teacher, I would like to add many different manipulatives and different activities to our classroom for our students to use. I am looking forward to making a list of our needs over the next couple of months and submitting for another project. I have students ranging in age from 4-8 who are getting the opportunity to learn how to play an instrument because of your generosity. My students are learning the Its Bitsy Spider and other familiar songs on the key boards. The electric drums are definitely the favorite choice for my older students. One of their favorite features is that there are several different instrument sounds built into the drum set. We also love that they have the option to use headphones with the drums because it significantly reduces the nose in my classroom. That allows my students with sensory issues to be comfortable in my classroom and not over stimulated.
