Thanks to your kind gifts, our ukulele club is officially launching on January 28, 2025, and the excitement in our school is contagious. Students of all ages have been buzzing with anticipation since the ukuleles arrived, and the sound of music has already begun to echo through our halls.\r\n\r\nOur fifth graders are particularly thrilled to embark on their journey through \"Ukulele Karate,\" a program where they earn colored belts for mastering new skills and songs. This innovative approach combines music education with goal-setting and perseverance, helping students build confidence and celebrate their progress. The younger students look up to them with admiration, eagerly awaiting their turn to participate.\r\n\r\nThe ukulele club has quickly become a beacon of joy, especially for our economically disadvantaged students. This after-school program is more than just a musical outlet; it's a safe space where they can express themselves, connect with peers, and discover hidden talents. It's heartwarming to see their faces light up as they strum their first chords and begin to create music of their own.\r\n\r\nNone of this would have been possible without your support. You have given our students the gift of music, and with it, the confidence to dream big and achieve more. On behalf of our school community, thank you for making this dream a reality. We cannot wait to share their musical journey and accomplishments with you in the months to come.","fullyFundedDate":1729527903772,"projectUrl":"project/strumming-into-success-ukuleles-for-mus/8809016/","projectTitle":"Strumming into Success: Ukuleles for Musical Growth","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Alvarado","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9770471"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_9860","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":554,"numTeachers":43,"percentFrplEligible":65,"percentAsian":8,"percentBlack":10,"percentWhite":19,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":51,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"12.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":81.5,"schoolId":9860,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Locke Hill Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Locke Hill Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/northside-independent-school-district/locke-hill-elementary-school/9860"}
