Your donation has allowed me to set up whiteboards around the classroom, and it has also enabled students to participate more when they are answering questions on the whiteboard.\r\n\r\nMy students were shocked when they saw the materials already set up around the classroom, and they were asking me what they were going to be used for. I had explained to them that they would be the ones using them. As the routine is slowly coming along, the students have stated that they are learning more from their peers and that, for the first time, some actually argued over mathematical reasoning. That was my intention! My purpose for the whiteboard is to have them set up around the classroom so students can engage in math. I have seen my struggling students now become successful. \r\n\r\nIn the upcoming semester, students will be working a lot with algebraic concepts when it is time to learn right triangle trigonometry, surface area, and volume. The materials that were funded will be used more extensively due to the heavy algebra that is required. \r\n\r\nOverall, thank you for your support!","fullyFundedDate":1758769684642,"projectUrl":"project/mathematicians-at-work/9623133/","projectTitle":"Mathematicians at Work","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Gomez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10188900_orig.jpg?crop=271,271,x2,y42&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755660774571","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10188900"},{"teacherId":9252462,"projectId":9073326,"letterContent":"I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation to my classroom. They filled out a table to calculate the volumes which was later used to calculate the cut lengths required to produce the largest volume using polynomial functions. \r\n\r\nStudent-Created Anchor Charts: My students loved using the paper to design anchor charts that represent important mathematical concepts. These new texts have truly transformed the way our students engage with reading and learning.\r\n\r\nThe books introduce a variety of important skills and lessons beyond just the joy of reading. Many of the texts focus on critical thinking, comprehension strategies, and cultural awareness. Through stories and informational texts, students are learning how to analyze characters, identify themes, make connections to their own lives, and build vocabulary in meaningful contexts. Some books also encourage empathy and social-emotional learning, helping students understand diverse perspectives and experiences.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading has become an active, vibrant process. Students gather to read aloud, discuss ideas, and collaborate on projects inspired by the books. They develop confidence as readers by exploring texts at their own pace and challenging themselves with new genres and topics. Our reading time is filled with curiosity, questions, and lively conversations that deepen understanding and foster a genuine love for books.\r\n\r\nWe have noticed particular excitement among students who previously struggled to find books that capture their interest. These new selections have sparked enthusiasm in reluctant readers and motivated them to read more independently. Additionally, our English language learners are benefiting greatly from the varied vocabulary and rich storytelling, which support their language development in engaging ways.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, our students are not only improving their reading skills but also discovering new ideas and worlds through books. Items like an office couch and a nightstand in counseling or wellness rooms have provided students with a safe, comfortable space to relax and reflect. The presence of a sofa encourages students to pause and decompress during stressful times, while a nightstand often holds calming resources like journals or stress-relief tools, reinforcing a home-like, nurturing atmosphere. These cozy touches help reduce anxiety and foster a sense of security, making it easier for students to open up during counseling or independent mental health breaks.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, visual and tactile elements like positive affirmation pillows, therapy desk decor, postcards, and wooden stands displaying self-affirming messages have played a vital role in promoting positive self-talk and mindfulness among high school students. These items are often strategically placed in wellness centers, classrooms, or therapy spaces to serve as constant reminders of self-worth, resilience, and hope. Students may pick up a postcard with an inspiring quote to take with them or glance at the wooden stand affirmations during a difficult moment. These seemingly small touches contribute to a more emotionally supportive school environment, helping students build confidence, reduce negative thinking, and stay grounded throughout their day.","fullyFundedDate":1733494833824,"projectUrl":"project/building-mental-health-skills/8913049/","projectTitle":"Building Mental Health Skills","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Morales","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4301374_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1539023462856","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4301374"},{"teacherId":9828025,"projectId":8923433,"letterContent":"I want to express my deepest gratitude for your incredible support of the additions to my counseling office.
