The day we unpacked the books was like a holiday for the kids, as we examined titles and they called \"dibs\" on the books they couldn't wait to read. Students told me how they've been waiting for their favorite books to be available at the library, but now they could get started reading new books by their favorite authors and also discover new books to love. All 31 of my reading students get to keep 3 books in their classroom for independent reading and they've shown such responsibility in reading, caring for, and returning our new books. \r\n\r\nMy students come from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences, and several students have shared how they connect to stories and characters that reflect their lives. Being able to read stories about immigration, difficult family situations, and challenging social dilemmas, has been validating to these children who have experienced or witnessed these things first hand. They also are recommending these books to other students, and watching this love of literature unfold is truly a joy.","fullyFundedDate":1756785084300,"projectUrl":"project/diverse-books-for-rising-readers/9524501/","projectTitle":"Diverse Books for Rising Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Manthe","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2603263_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1474678311673","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2603263"},{"teacherId":8255204,"projectId":9415295,"letterContent":"I cannot put into words how thankful we are for your donations to our classroom! Because of you, our learning space has been transformed into an environment that not only supports academic growth, but also nurtures emotional well-being, independence, and joy in learning.\r\n\r\nThanks to your kindness, our Calming Corner is now a safe and peaceful retreat where students can take a moment to regulate their emotions and refocus. It is stocked with thoughtful tools that help students develop the skills they need to find calm, build self-awareness, and return to learning feeling grounded and empowered. This space has already made a profound impact on our classroom culture, and it would not have been possible without you.\r\n\r\nYour support also brought us whiteboards, markers, and erasers that are used every single day in our phonics, writing, and math lessons. These tools allow students to actively engage, take risks, and receive immediate feedback—all essential components of meaningful learning. You've helped make our instruction more interactive and effective, and for that, we are truly grateful.\r\n\r\nIn addition, each student now has a pair of high-quality headphones that they use with reading and math apps. These resources provide personalized support and allow students to learn at their own pace. The headphones have not only increased student engagement, but also created a sense of ownership over their learning. Watching them dive into these tools with confidence and excitement has been one of the many gifts your donation has given us.\r\n\r\nFinally, thank you for the student mailbox organization system. This seemingly simple addition has been a powerful tool in teaching our learners about responsibility and organization. Students are taking charge of their materials, managing their schoolwork more independently, and developing habits that will serve them well far beyond this school year.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has made a lasting difference in our classroom.
