I am building a "Calming Corner" for my special needs learners to use when they are in crisis. We work on many different strategies for the learners to use when they are overcome with confusion and anxiety. We teach them breathing techniques, stretching techniques, and meditation just to name a few. Each learner is wonderfully unique and each has an individual plan just for them. The supplies that I have asked for are going to be incorporated into their strategies to help calm them during times of crisis. Two strong, consistent, tools that all of my learners use to calm are reading and building. They have incredible, creative minds and use building materials to help calm, that is where the Lego building sets come in. They also love to read, but I want to make sure that the "Calming Corner" has a library that is diverse and represents all of my learners, that is why I've chosen those specific books. If you were to help me this would free some of my personal funds so that I could use those funds on other things that my learners may need throughout the year. I want to thank you for your consideration and just know that no matter which project you choose you ARE making a difference!
