These books have allowed us to strengthen essential reading skills such as identifying characters, setting, and plot, making predictions, asking and answering questions, and building vocabulary in meaningful ways. Students are also practicing deeper comprehension skills like retelling, making connections, and thinking about the author's purpose. Having books that they are genuinely excited about has made these lessons come to life in a way that feels natural and joyful.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom has completely transformed. You can walk in and see students fully immersed—reading independently, partnering up to discuss their books, and eagerly sharing their thoughts during discussions. We incorporate small group instruction, independent reading time, and partner work so every student is supported at their level. The best part is that students are choosing to read even outside of assigned time—they ask for extra reading time and can't wait to get their hands on the next book in a series.\r\n\r\nWhat's been most special is seeing the impact on individual students. Some of my more reluctant readers, who previously struggled to stay engaged, are now excited to pick up books and proudly share what they've read. Others are building confidence by challenging themselves with new genres and higher-level texts. These books have truly created a space where every child can see themselves as a reader. Your support has not only helped grow their academic skills, but has sparked a genuine love of reading that will stay with them far beyond our classroom. Thank you for making this possible for our students—we are so incredibly grateful!","fullyFundedDate":1773879644232,"projectUrl":"project/books-students-love-for-every-reader-in/10158220/","projectTitle":"Books Students Love for Every Reader in our School","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Luna","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10060861_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757008761574","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10060861"},{"teacherId":9967803,"projectId":9662765,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our students are using the felt storyboard set during speech therapy to bring favorite children's books like Brown Bear, Brown Bear to life. When the students first saw the materials, their faces lit up with excitement, and even our most reluctant speakers were eager to participate. Next, we will continue using the felt sets to support story retelling, vocabulary growth, and expressive language by having students create their own simple stories and practice speaking confidently in front of peers.","fullyFundedDate":1764725165395,"projectUrl":"project/speech-therapy-felt-storyboard-set/9662765/","projectTitle":"Speech Therapy Felt Storyboard Set","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ganley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9967803_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1741822035326","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9967803"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_82265","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":380,"numTeachers":38,"percentFrplEligible":68,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":7,"percentWhite":17,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":72,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":1,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"10.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":47.3,"schoolId":82265,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lincoln Elementary School 6 on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Lincoln Elementary School 6","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-jersey/garfield-school-district/lincoln-elementary-school-6/82265"}
