Because of your generosity, my 3rd grade students were able to design and 3D print their \"One Word\" projects using glow-in-the-dark filament.\r\n\r\nEach student chose one word that represents a personal goal or value for the year—words like brave, curious, kind, and focus. With the 3D printer, students were able to see how an idea can move from a simple concept to a real object they created themselves. This experience helped them understand that technology is not only something we use for entertainment, but also a powerful tool for creating and problem solving.\r\n\r\nStudents were fascinated watching the printer slowly build their words layer by layer. For many of them, it was their first time seeing how a digital design can turn into a physical object. The glow-in-the-dark filament made the project even more exciting. When the lights dim, their words glow—serving as a reminder of the goals they set for themselves.\r\n\r\nSome students who are naturally quiet in class became especially engaged during this project. Watching their ideas come to life sparked curiosity and led them to ask thoughtful questions about how the printer works and how people design products in the real world. It was wonderful to see students begin to think of themselves as creators, inventors, and problem solvers.\r\n\r\nYour support made this hands-on learning experience possible. Thank you for helping our students explore creativity, technology, and innovation in such a meaningful way.","fullyFundedDate":1771443177520,"projectUrl":"project/help-me-give-my-students-essential-suppl/10102475/","projectTitle":"Help me give my students essential supplies for learning.","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Tsung","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7865592_orig.png?crop=1539,1539,x0,y5&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1771394518054","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mstsung"},{"teacherId":4487858,"projectId":9777653,"letterContent":"I want to extend our deepest gratitude for your generous donation supporting our STEM activities. Your kindness has provided our young learners with invaluable hands-on opportunities to explore and develop their curiosity in science, technology, engineering, and math.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, our students have enjoyed engaging with the Architecture Set, Childcraft Nuts and Bolts with Storage Bin, Magnetic Tiles for building roads, and Hammering Kits. These STEM tools have fostered creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, all while making learning fun and interactive.\r\n\r\nOur students have used the kits to build different types of buildings and understand the \"foundation\" needed to support larger builders. Some of our students enjoyed exploring with \"decorating\" and adding details to their cities. These real life experience has helped our youngest learners experience building like constructors and engineers. \r\n\r\nThe positive impact of these activities is evident in the enthusiasm and confidence our students have shown as they experiment, build, and discover. Our students have been using the cards daily to create stories. Their language exposure and skills have improved tremendously. The best part of the story cards are that students are learning to take turn and listen to one another. The felt board and the Chick-a-Chik-a boom -boom trees are also in use during our exploration time. Students use the book and the hands on materials to retell the stories. Some students even add their own twist and addition to the stories. We hope to continue bringing a love for reading and listening through this project. They were so eager to gather together on the carpet, and it quickly became the heart of our classroom community. We now use it daily as part of our structured literacy curriculum, which emphasizes phonics and is especially supportive for English learners and students with reading difficulties such as dyslexia. The rug gives us the space to incorporate movement, tactile learning, and whole-group participation, which makes lessons more engaging and effective.\r\n\r\nOne of the most meaningful moments has been using the rug during story time. Whether I am reading aloud or a student volunteers to share, the entire class is able to sit comfortably, listen attentively, and connect with the story. It has also become a place for students to share their own work, building confidence and pride in their learning. The rug has truly transformed these activities into special moments that the students look forward to each day.\r\n\r\nAs we continue with our literacy curriculum, the rug will remain a central tool for building community and strengthening foundational reading skills. The students are already showing more excitement and focus during our lessons, and I know this will continue to grow. Your generosity has given us more than a rug—you've given us a space where students feel safe, supported, and eager to learn together.","fullyFundedDate":1754449152321,"projectUrl":"project/rolling-out-a-rug-for-learning/9532663/","projectTitle":"Rolling Out a Rug for Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Perez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9720081_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754327098553","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9720081"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_128418","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":942,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":24,"percentAsian":77,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":4,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":87.6,"schoolId":128418,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lila Bringhurst Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Lila Bringhurst Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/fremont-unified-school-district/lila-bringhurst-elementary-school/128418"}
