I teach math and science to 6th graders. This coming school year, many of them were 4th graders before the pandemic and were sheltering in place. When they enter middle school for the first time, it will be a huge change for them because they are coming from remote learning and elementary school. These innovative and nicely designed materials will help my incoming 6th grade students create beautiful interactive math notebooks and Japanese origami STEAM projects. This recent school year, my students have used origami paper to create "decimal snowflakes" to show what fraction of the paper they cut off. They used origami paper to build the tallest free standing tower without any tape or glue. They built the biggest boxes from origami paper by calculating net volume. They learned to fold fractions with origami paper. They created virus and RNA snowflakes. The next class will create beautiful interactive notebooks too.
