Students earn points for demonstrating our schoolwide ROAR expectations—being Responsible, On Task, Accountable, and Respectful—and they can redeem those points at our snack store. The store has helped students stay motivated and make positive choices throughout the school day.\r\nOne of my favorite moments was watching students carefully count their earned points and excitedly \"shop\" for their rewards at the end of the week. Students who previously struggled with staying focused became more engaged because they had a tangible goal to work toward. The pride on their faces when they earned enough points for a snack was incredible and reinforced the importance of making positive choices.\r\nWhen the students first saw the snack store supplies, they were thrilled! They immediately began asking questions about how they could earn points and what behaviors would help them be successful. The excitement was contagious, and students were eager to participate in our PBIS system from day one.\r\nAs we move forward, we will continue using the snack store to strengthen positive behavior habits while encouraging students to take ownership of their actions. Our next step is helping students set personal behavior goals and reflect on their progress each week. By connecting positive behavior to goal-setting and self-reflection, students will continue developing the social-emotional skills necessary for success both inside and outside the classroom.
