Having a reliable way to communicate has reduced frustration and increased confidence for many of our learners.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for the students is how engaging and interactive the devices are. Compared to traditional picture icons or sign language, the AAC devices immediately capture their attention and motivate them to communicate. Students are eager to press buttons, hear the words spoken aloud, and see their messages understood by peers and adults. This has led to increased participation during group activities like circle time, where students are now able to greet their classmates, make choices, and join in shared routines.\r\n\r\nSome of our students who were previously hesitant to communicate have especially warmed to this technology. Students who rarely initiated interactions are now independently using their devices to say \"hi,\" request turns, and participate in classroom activities. These moments may seem small, but they are huge milestones for our students and families. Students were especially excited to receive red envelopes filled with chocolate coins, which helped bring the tradition to life in a fun and memorable way.\r\n\r\nThroughout our two-week celebration, students engaged in a variety of hands-on activities. Using resources from our TPT gift card, we created crafts, completed themed coloring pages, and read a variety of Lunar New Year stories. One of the highlights was a directed drawing of a horse, which students personalized with their own creative details. Their artwork was then transferred onto t-shirts, making their designs something they could proudly wear.\r\n\r\nOn the final day of our celebration, students wore their shirts to school, created lanterns, and celebrated together with delicious food. It was a wonderful way to bring everything we learned together and create lasting memories.\r\n\r\nThis project helped students build an appreciation for cultural traditions while expressing their creativity and engaging in meaningful learning experiences. They absolutely love being able to wear their own artwork and show it off to their classmates and teachers.
