Through this shared reading experience, students were exposed to real-world issues, diverse perspectives, and new ideas that sparked curiosity and thoughtful discussions. I saw students making stronger connections between the text and current events, as well as developing more confidence in analyzing informational material.\r\n\r\nBecause of the materials provided, I was able to implement a full-class nonfiction study that emphasized critical thinking, discussion, and text-based analysis. Having a class set allowed every student to actively engage—annotating, asking questions, and participating in meaningful conversations. I was also able to incorporate writing activities that encouraged students to reflect on what they learned and form their own informed opinions.\r\n\r\nThank you for supporting this project and helping provide resources that expand students' horizons. Experiences like this empower students to think more deeply about the world around them and see themselves as informed, capable learners.","fullyFundedDate":1750605615603,"projectUrl":"project/developing-students-love-for-reading-wi/9280307/","projectTitle":"Developing Students' Love for Reading With Non-fiction? Having class sets of books allowed every student to actively participate in reading lessons, discussions, and group activities. As a result, I saw increased engagement, improved reading comprehension, and a growing sense of confidence in students who had previously been hesitant readers.\r\n\r\nBecause of the materials provided, I was able to implement whole-class novel studies and guided reading activities that simply weren't possible before. Instead of relying on limited or shared resources, each student had their own copy, which encouraged independent reading, annotation, and deeper connection to the text. This also allowed me to differentiate instruction more effectively and create meaningful discussions where every student could contribute.\r\n\r\nThank you for your support in helping bring these resources into my classroom.
