We use them almost every day to take a \"closer look\" at the world around us. During our plant and seed investigations, students used the viewers to examine seed coats, tiny roots, leaves, and even bits of soil. They've also used them to study rocks, feathers, and anything else they can get their hands on from our schoolyard explorations. Instead of just looking at pictures in a book, my 1st and 2nd graders are now able to see real details up close and make observations like real scientists.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments was during a lesson on seeds. A student placed a sprouting bean under the viewer, gasped, and yelled out, \"I can see the baby plant!\" Immediately, a small crowd formed around the table, and students took turns making observations and sketching what they saw in their science notebooks. That one moment turned into a rich discussion about plant parts, growth, and what living things need all sparked by being able to see more than they ever could with just their eyes.\r\n Thank you for giving them the tools to explore, wonder, and discover.","fullyFundedDate":1755702493902,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-science-for-curious-minds/9347933/","projectTitle":"Hands-on Science for Curious Minds!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Anderson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8547071_orig.png?crop=398,398,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1658849210520","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8547071"},{"teacherId":10049208,"projectId":9529485,"letterContent":"My students and I are so incredibly grateful for your contributions to this project. All of my students absolutely love using the sensory bins and enjoy experiencing different textures in the two different bins. The sensory bins allow students to work on their sensory regulation, visual scanning, and fine motor skills. This tool allows them to work on so many skills while also having fun! Another favorite tool provided by the project is the pretend food. My younger students, especially, love to pretend play with the food while also working on their fine motor and visual motor skills (e.g. pulling apart the Velcro pieces or using the pretend silverware to cut them). \r\n\r\nI am so grateful for all of the support this project received. For example, when working on geometry and place value, students built 3D models to show how numbers can be represented in different forms. During science, they collaborated to design structures that could stand tall without toppling, applying ideas about balance and force. These hands-on tools are giving them a chance to test their problem-solving skills in real time.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, our classroom has transformed into a space where young builders, problem-solvers, and innovators are thriving every day.","fullyFundedDate":1746699673391,"projectUrl":"project/from-curiosity-to-creativity-stem-suppl/9312318/","projectTitle":"From Curiosity to Creativity: STEM Supplies Needed!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Anderson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8547071_orig.png?crop=398,398,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1658849210520","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8547071"},{"teacherId":8339485,"projectId":9387565,"letterContent":"We are so grateful for your support! This quiet atmosphere helps them stay engaged, think more clearly, and take ownership of their learning.\r\n\r\nThe headphones also help students work more independently. Because i-Ready lessons are tailored to each child's needs, the headphones ensure they can clearly hear instructions, practice skills, and respond without interruption. With these items, they have increased the students' sense of security, agency, and belonging. The emotions rug has become a visual and physical anchor: during morning check-ins, children place their name tags or little markers on the face or word that matches how they feel, which gives them a nonverbal yet powerful way to share emotional states. Rugs like this are especially helpful in promoting emotional vocabulary and social-emotional learning in a calm, designated space. \r\n\r\nThe additional supplies help keep our routines smooth, transitions quick, and materials visible and accessible. The cozy corner, with soft cushions, low shelves of calm-down tools, and sensory items, offers a haven for students to pause, reflect, or self-regulate when they feel overwhelmed. Research and practice support that such calming areas provide students with a place to reset, which can reduce emotional escalation and return them to engagement more quickly.","fullyFundedDate":1747186443738,"projectUrl":"project/emotion-commotion-navigating-feelings-t/9346379/","projectTitle":"Emotion Commotion: Navigating Feelings Through Play","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Yeoman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10032751_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1747057566583","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10032751"},{"teacherId":4238278,"projectId":8965097,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our students have been thriving with the new resources in our Health and Physical Education classroom. These materials have done more than just strengthen physical skills—they have also supported academic growth. Through structured activities, students are practicing focus, perseverance, and problem-solving. They are learning how to follow directions, set measurable goals, and reflect on their progress—skills that carry over into their academic success as well.\r\n\r\nMy students and I have been using the new resources to make our fitness lessons more engaging and hands-on. For example, during our cardio fitness circuit, students rotated through stations using jump ropes, agility ladders, and balance equipment. It was incredible to watch them not only challenge themselves physically but also encourage one another to try new skills and push past their comfort zones. This activity allowed them to focus on endurance, coordination, and teamwork while actively engaging in meaningful movement.\r\n\r\nStudents were immediately energized and enthusiastic. They expressed excitement about trying new activities, and their reactions demonstrated how meaningful these resources are to their learning experience. The materials have not only captured their interest but also motivated them to participate at a higher level.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to integrate goal-setting into fitness lessons. Students will use the equipment to track their progress in areas such as stamina, agility, and balance. By measuring growth over time, they will begin to see the connection between consistent practice, personal effort, and improved physical health. This process is designed to help them build lifelong healthy habits and strengthen their confidence in their abilities.","fullyFundedDate":1739369984086,"projectUrl":"project/socioemotional-learning-healthy-mind-h/8965097/","projectTitle":"Socioemotional Learning: Healthy Mind, Healthy Body!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Morales","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4238278"},{"teacherId":9717515,"projectId":8765923,"letterContent":"First of all, I want to thank everyone who made our days better last school year.
