After reading books and using maps to guide their learning, they illustrated how geography influenced each tribe's way of life during our Native American unit. In addition to that, the materials for our calming corner have made a huge difference in our classroom environment. Students now have a safe, quiet space to regulate their emotions and take a mindful break before returning to learning. It's helped foster a more positive and supportive atmosphere where students can focus and feel cared for. Students were beyond excited! Students immediately started planning how to use color to show the various regions we've studied in our Native American unit. When they saw the calming corner setup, there was a mix of curiosity and appreciation. Next, students will complete their brochures on a Native American tribe and participate in a gallery walk where they'll explain how the environment shaped each Native American group's culture.
