I am a founding fifth grade English teacher at KIPP Sol Academy in East Los Angeles. Only 4 percent of students from East and South LA go to 4-­year universities. Our school's mission is to provide an excellent education that ignites hearts as much as minds while we push students to and through college. By teaching academic skills, fostering intellectual habits and cultivating character strengths, we light the spark within each child necessary to explore, advance and succeed on the path to and through college.

About my class
