These kids needed more variety and more options for books. They are also struggling with reading fluency in Spanish, so I was able to find more books that their developmental levels that they could get more practice with the right amount of challenge and learning. This initiative has really helped the students! We made an incentives challenge for the kids to read a certain amount of books to earn a prize. The top winner, students who read over 20 books in Spanish, earned a special Chick-fil-A lunch with their teacher or a special stuffed animal of their choice. I am so happy we could motivate these kids to keep reading independently this school year. This impact will make a difference in the rest of their bilingual academic journeys! Your donations helped to purchase soccer shinguards, goals, and soccer balls for our soccer team. My student athletes were ecstatic when we got to walk a quarter of a mile to our practice field because we do not have one on our campus, and they were able to practice with the new equipment. \r\n They learned how to assemble the goals, as well as, break them down after practice. They treated the new soccer balls with care and showed extra hustle when one whizzed passed them improving their reaction time and their conditioning. They felt safe wearing their brand new pair of shinguards and were able to take more risks in winning the ball out on the pitch. \r\n Without your donations and generous heart, this would not have been possible for my team. We are forever grateful for you all and just know that because of your kind donations, my team is continuing to develop a love for soccer. I serve 40+ students between TK - 5th grade, all who are behind grade-level in their reading/writing skills. The materials you provided have been INSTRUMENTAL to my instruction in the past 6 months.\r\n\r\nThe largest portion of the donation fund went to purchasing a brand new Early Learning Station whiteboard easel for the Spanish kindergarten classroom. This was an amazing contribution to the learning environment for these students and the teacher now has a functional space to teach phonics lessons and keep the learning interactive on chart paper and the lined whiteboard. It is beautiful and perfect! We love it!!\r\nI also have new chart paper for my lessons.\r\n\r\n I now have so many books and resources that I can use to help my students build confidence and fill in their gaps in their knowledge. With these book sets, I can give students more challenge with the phonics concepts with upper-grade level interest and content. The highlighters and whiteboard markers help me SOOOO much!\r\n\r\nSomething I have been using NONSTOP are my tactile sandpaper Uppercase and Lowercase Alphabet flashcards. I've been wanting these for years! Now students can feel the textured letters and work on letter formation and sound/name correspondence. It really helps master tthe skills in an interactive, multi-sensory way for kids! Thrilled!\r\n\r\nYour donations also went to a lot of prizes and positive behavior rewards systems at my school. Students were very motivated and pumped to earn new mechanical pencils, fun stickers, chips, mini-erasers, & bracelets.\r\n\r\nFor example, with your generosity, the results have been incredible. Especially for my kindergarten students, they went from only knowing letters and sounds, to now reading and writing full, simple sentences on their own. In all the grade levels, the fine-tip whiteboard markers have been critical to every lesson I teach and gives all students the opportunity to practice as much as possible every day. The progress fills me with joy and encouragement. At my school, I did not begin with having any reading intervention materials at the start of last year.
