These kids needed more variety and more options for books. They are also struggling with reading fluency in Spanish, so I was able to find more books that their developmental levels that they could get more practice with the right amount of challenge and learning. This initiative has really helped the students! We made an incentives challenge for the kids to read a certain amount of books to earn a prize. The top winner, students who read over 20 books in Spanish, earned a special Chick-fil-A lunch with their teacher or a special stuffed animal of their choice. I am so happy we could motivate these kids to keep reading independently this school year. This impact will make a difference in the rest of their bilingual academic journeys! Your donations helped to purchase soccer shinguards, goals, and soccer balls for our soccer team. My student athletes were ecstatic when we got to walk a quarter of a mile to our practice field because we do not have one on our campus, and they were able to practice with the new equipment. \r\n They learned how to assemble the goals, as well as, break them down after practice. They treated the new soccer balls with care and showed extra hustle when one whizzed passed them improving their reaction time and their conditioning. They felt safe wearing their brand new pair of shinguards and were able to take more risks in winning the ball out on the pitch. \r\n Without your donations and generous heart, this would not have been possible for my team. We are forever grateful for you all and just know that because of your kind donations, my team is continuing to develop a love for soccer.
