Starting last April my students began running a school coffee cart for teachers and staff to purchase hot coffee from each Thursday morning. Orders were collected via a Google Form and students spent Wednesday after pre-assembling the orders divided by floor including cup, lid, K-cup, sugar, creamer and a stirrer. On Thursday mornings students would report to work at 7:45 am and put on their aprons and name tags and travel throughout the building making, delivering, and collecting payment for the coffee. \r\n\r\nThis project has made such a difference for my students and provided them with a hands on and interactive learning experience. Students are so excited for the coffee cart to be up and running for this school year and I cannot wait to continue to share this experience with them for years.","fullyFundedDate":1743015646435,"projectUrl":"project/high-school-autistic-support-coffee-cart/9145695/","projectTitle":"High School Autistic Support Coffee Cart","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Smith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6975257_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y131&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1742234762312","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6975257"},{"teacherId":9756410,"projectId":9076134,"letterContent":"Thank you again for donating to my first classroom project. The books, games, headphones, and supplies made a huge difference in how I was able to run my classroom this year.\r\n\r\nMany of my students do not have headphones of their own. Through this project, I created a Headphone Library - students used their school ID card to \"check out\" headphones for the day. Three of my more frequent borrowers were permitted to keep theirs at the end of the year - the smiles on their faces when they realized they could use the headphones this summer were incredible.\r\n\r\nI also was able to better promote screen-free time during brain breaks and on slower days. Students loved the new graphic novels and chapter books I added, often begging to take them home to finish overnight. And the board games were a huge hit - I saw students who normally didn't talk much to one another bond over new games and learning rules together. I can't wait to see these new hobbies and friendships thrive next school year too.","fullyFundedDate":1738091426706,"projectUrl":"project/rec-and-leisure-corner-for-special-educa/9076134/","projectTitle":"Rec and Leisure Corner for Special Education Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Sobczak","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9756410_orig.png?crop=355,355,x0,y62&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1738589557231","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9756410"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_31284","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":458,"numTeachers":40,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":31,"percentWhite":8,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":53,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"11.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":61.5,"schoolId":31284,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Kensington High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Kensington High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/pennsylvania/philadelphia-city-school-district/kensington-intl-business-high-school/31284"}
