When students have leftover fruit and snacks from breakfast or lunch that they don't want, they often place them in the bin so their classmates can enjoy them instead of letting the food go to waste. They use the flashcards to study for quizzes and exams, the cardstock to create art-based representations of their learning, and the composition notebooks each week to reflect on class readings, practice their writing, and journal about their learning. We also use the crayons, pencils, pens, fidgets, tissues, sticky notes, staples, tacks, and paper clips daily to support our learning environment.\r\n\r\nFinally, the jumbo calendar helps us keep track of our learning progress and upcoming events, including quizzes, student sport events, and birthdays. It helps us stay organized while celebrating the milestones and special moments within our classroom community.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has truly made a meaningful difference in my classroom. We don't need to spend forever looking for specific assignments. Students also enjoyed the variety of colors. You gave my students more plays to choose from and more opportunities to find characters, situations, and scene types they could connect with. This matters, given the varying interests, personalities, and comfort levels around performing. For some students, acting feels very natural, and they enjoy performing. For others, it's very scary to get up in front of an audience. More choices allowed students to find scenes that fit them well. It also gave students more ownership over their scenes because they had that personal connection. \r\n\r\nThese new plays also gave us opportunities to talk about what makes a scene work. Students could think about character motivation, relationships, conflict, dialogue, tone, and the different choices an actor can make when developing a character. I use the document camera daily to work through the skills we learn in class with students. Completing work together in class before students are tasked with completing it on their own is an important strategy in supporting students in their learning. The laminator is my new best friend! I've been able to make posters and materials that I can reuse from year to year. My new standing desk is a fantastic upgrade. I have more space to use my document camera, take attendance, and keep important documents and assignments organized. The magnetic note sheet has been a great tool to help students format their notebooks and model how they should write notes in the notebooks or how to approach freewrites. I've used the individual white boards with students to assist in collaborative writing activities. \r\n\r\nWhile these supplies aren't necessarily required in order to teach, they do make my job much easier and my classroom much more learning oriented. These supplies give me so many more opportunities and methods of teaching content than I had before, and I can feel how it's positively impacting my students in their learning. I am so grateful to everyone who helped fund my classroom to support my students.
