I have printed out the photos and laminated them for students to walk around and answer a few questions. Now, the photos are posted on our classroom wall for students to revisit at any time.\r\nAnother project came up in Mathematics. What is the purpose of a debit card? Wouldn't it be awesome for students to have their own debit card and accounting log? In second grade, our math standards are heavily focused on adding and subtracting multi-digit numbers with regrouping. Let us travel back in time where we all kept an accounting log instead of relying on our digital receipts? Students were given a colored debit card which was laminated and used for various activities that motivated them to learn about debit and credit. \r\nBonus: We were all able to practice our multi-digit number addition and subtraction. Pull in the life skills our students will be learning. \r\nOur next stop? Checkbooks and Credit cards! Students were very excited to play this game, which allowed them to practice their visual problem-solving skills. So, when the game arrived, they were very happy to begin using this game and not having to share the game pieces or play in teams to extend the game playing. This game is great for students of all abilities, including my special needs students, since this is a visual-spatial problem-solving game. So I love that it's an inclusive game. The next steps for this game are to allow the students to continue to have access to the games so they can continue to work on their visual problem-solving skills and to have fun doing it. \r\n\r\nI will also continue to use the rest of my supplies from this project by allowing my students flexible seating with the stools and tables. They have already started to use the stools to set up around the room and enjoy the flexibility this offers. The next step is to set up the tables around the room to allow more flexible seating opportunities for the students. I am also going to use the other supplies, such as pens, a box cutter, paint pens, puppet making supplies for art lessons to enhance their learning.
