As a results, the students did well on their most recent winter assessment (early December)! \r\n\r\nThe plastic envelopes/pouches are great for students to store their school money (lion kala), which they earn for good behavior as well as academic achievement! These supplies allow them to ask questions, test ideas, make observations, and learn that mistakes are part of discovery. For many of my students, this will be their first time doing true hands-on experiments, building confidence and curiosity in STEM.\r\n\r\n👩🏽🔬 Aprons\r\nThe aprons do more than protect clothes—they help students step into the role of scientists. When students put on an apron, they feel important, capable, and proud of their work. It creates a sense of responsibility and excitement, helping them take ownership of their learning while feeling safe to explore, get messy, and try new things.\r\n\r\n🥽 Meta Quest Virtual Reality Headsets\r\nThe Meta Quest headsets open the world to our classroom. Students will be able to take virtual field trips to places they may never get to see in real life—outer space, the ocean floor, historic landmarks, and science labs. It increases engagement, deepens understanding, and helps students make powerful connections between what they learn and the real world.","fullyFundedDate":1759281244182,"projectUrl":"project/help-students-explore-places-beyond-the/9771925/","projectTitle":"Help Students Explore Places Beyond the Classroom!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Keunyoung","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8102167_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753114281787","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8102167"},{"teacherId":10193152,"projectId":9709788,"letterContent":"The resources are making our classroom feel much more functional and focused! Specifically, we are loving the wireless mic/speaker system! Students who previously spoke quietly felt confident holding the microphone, ensuring their hard work was heard clearly by everyone. This has transformed our class discussions, making them more inclusive and dynamic. \r\n The students were thrilled when the supplies arrived! When they saw the new materials and learning tools, they immediately understood that their learning routine was about to get smoother (and more engaging!). The best reaction was to the calm corner supplies. We introduced the corner not just as a space, but as a tool for managing big feelings. Seeing the dedicated space for quiet reflection, students realized they now had a concrete, positive strategy for self-regulation. We've already had students use the space independently to take a deep breath before returning to a challenging assignment, demonstrating a beautiful level of self-awareness and personal growth.\r\n We are working on adding and subtracting coin and dollar values. We are also continuing to work on our sounds and spelling. Our whiteboards, markers, and erasers, for both of these lessons/topics, will support our students' learning. We use these tools for quick formative assessments, and the quick pace and satisfaction of using good markers keep the students engaged throughout the lessons.","fullyFundedDate":1757976176786,"projectUrl":"project/enhancements-to-our-2nd-grade-learning-j/9709788/","projectTitle":"Enhancements to Our 2nd Grade Learning Journey","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Emmart","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10193152"},{"teacherId":8820433,"projectId":9772064,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation to the students at my school. Students created slime while learning about polymers and how different ingredients change the texture and behavior of a substance. They practiced observation, prediction, and comparison as they tested their mixtures.\r\n\r\nThey also experimented with bubble art, discovering how surface tension works and why bubbles form the shapes they do. This activity blended creativity with science, giving students a chance to see chemistry and art come together.\r\n\r\nOne of their favorite projects was making lava lamps, where they explored density, immiscible liquids, and chemical reactions. They watched how oil and water interact, and how a fizzing reaction can create movement inside the lamp.\r\n\r\nThese activities helped students apply scientific thinking in a highly interactive way. They asked questions, made predictions, observed changes, and discussed what they noticed—building both their STEM skills and their confidence as young scientists.","fullyFundedDate":1758763253356,"projectUrl":"project/the-magic-of-making-bringing-stem-to-li/9489128/","projectTitle":"The Magic of Making: Bringing STEM to Life!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Keunyoung","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8102167_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753114281787","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8102167"},{"teacherId":8102167,"projectId":9856794,"letterContent":"Our third graders were incredibly proud to complete a community service project supported by the Allstate Foundation. Students learned that even small acts of gratitude can make a big difference, and that community members deserve respect and recognition for the work they do. They practiced teamwork, empathy, and communication while preparing the bags, and many students shared how excited they were to brighten someone's day through kindness.\r\n\r\nThe impact reached far beyond the snack bags — our students learned firsthand that they are active participants in their community. It was a concrete way to help them with their learning. They were surprised that we have fake money to now count. Each student was able to describe and count the coins and dollar amounts. It was a good way to introduce money to my students. Balance pans were helpful when the students had to compare quantities. They got to see the action of the weight instead of just looking at numbers. The students were able to play with them during their free time by changing the amounts on each side. To see their faces on how it would move is priceless. It clicked for them to see the movement of the scales. I can't wait to use this in other areas of teaching such as science.
