Because of your generosity, our PreK students are helping keep two lending library boxes outside our school gates filled with books for anyone in the community to enjoy. This project has become something our students are incredibly proud to be part of, and it has made reading feel even more meaningful for them.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading is an interactive and engaging experience. During story time, we read aloud together, look closely at the pictures, talk about the characters, and make predictions about what might happen next. These conversations help students build important early literacy skills such as vocabulary, listening comprehension, understanding story sequence, and recognizing that print carries meaning. Many of the new books we are adding to our lending libraries introduce students to different types of stories, characters, and lessons about friendship, kindness, courage, and problem-solving.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting parts of this project for the students is helping take care of the lending libraries. They enjoy checking the boxes to see which books have been borrowed and what new books have been donated. It has sparked wonderful conversations about sharing, generosity, and how books can bring joy to others. My students help sort the books, decide which ones to place in the boxes, and make sure the libraries stay neat and welcoming for everyone.\r\n\r\nSeveral students in our class have already found favorite books that they love to revisit during reading time. Some enjoy sitting in our classroom library and \"reading\" the stories to their friends by looking at the pictures and retelling what they remember from the story. Others love choosing books they think another child in the community might enjoy and proudly placing them in the lending box. Seeing their excitement as they contribute to something that helps others has been incredibly rewarding.\r\n\r\nThe new books we will be adding include a variety of popular titles for readers of many ages. This gives our students the opportunity to explore different types of books and talk about what kinds of stories other children might like. These discussions help them think about their audience, practice making choices, and develop empathy for others in the community.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, our next steps will be continuing to restock the libraries and teaching students how to care for shared resources. We will also connect our reading lessons in the classroom to the books we place in the lending boxes by talking about why stories are important and how reading helps us learn about the world around us.\r\n\r\nThrough this project, our youngest learners are discovering that they can make a real difference. They are learning about kindness, responsibility, and the joy of sharing stories with others. Your support is helping us promote literacy not only in our classroom, but throughout our entire community.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping our little readers spread the love of books—one story at a time.","fullyFundedDate":1761150561126,"projectUrl":"project/little-libraries-big-impact-promoting/9822987/","projectTitle":"Little Libraries, Big Impact: Promoting Literacy","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Yuill","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6745014"},{"teacherId":6745014,"projectId":9302104,"letterContent":"hank you so much for supporting our school and helping make our Sharing Library project possible. Because of your generosity, my prekindergarten students are not only enjoying new books in our classroom, but they are also learning how to share the joy of reading with others in our school and community.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is a very interactive and engaging experience. We gather together during story time to read aloud, talk about the characters, and make connections between the stories and our own lives. The new books have given us wonderful opportunities to talk about kindness, good manners, and how we treat others. These lessons help students build important social skills while also strengthening early literacy skills such as listening comprehension, vocabulary development, and understanding story structure.\r\n\r\nThe manners books have been especially helpful in introducing lessons about respect, sharing, helping others, and being a good friend. After reading together, we often discuss how the characters solved problems and how we can use those same behaviors in our classroom and community. Students are beginning to recognize that stories can teach us important life lessons as well as entertain us.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first learned about the Sharing Library project, they were very excited about the idea of helping other children have books to read. They loved the idea that families in the neighborhood could visit the library, take a book, and enjoy reading together at home. Several students have already shown great interest in helping sort the books and decide which ones should go into the library first.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments was watching a small group of students carefully look through the books and talk about which ones they thought other children might enjoy. They were thoughtful and proud to be part of something that helps others. It was a wonderful example of how even our youngest learners can understand the value of sharing and giving.\r\n\r\nMany students have already developed favorite books from the new collection. They often ask to read them again during story time or choose them during independent reading. Some students enjoy retelling the stories to their friends by looking at the pictures, which is a great early reading skill.\r\n\r\nThe next step in our project will be decorating and preparing the Sharing Library box. Students will help paint and decorate it with messages about kindness, reading, and sharing. We will also continue sorting books and learning how to care for them so that others can enjoy them too. As the library becomes part of our community, students will help keep it organized and stocked with books, learning responsibility and pride in helping others.\r\n\r\nThis project is helping my students see that reading can bring people together and that even young children can make a positive difference in their community. Your generosity has helped turn a simple idea into a meaningful learning experience for my students and a gift for the families around our school.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping our little learners become big readers and caring community helpers.","fullyFundedDate":1746474160604,"projectUrl":"project/community-service-little-leaders-helpin/9302104/","projectTitle":"Community Service- Little Leaders Helping to Create A Sharing Library","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Yuill","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6745014"},{"teacherId":6745014,"projectId":7263771,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our classroom and helping provide new materials for our learning centers. Because of your generosity, my students now have additional resources that are helping them expand their creativity, communication skills, and social development during center time.\r\n\r\nThe new dramatic play materials have quickly become a favorite in our classroom. The baby dolls, stroller, and accessories have allowed students to create their own little \"family\" scenarios. One special moment I observed was when two students decided to take care of a baby doll together. They carefully placed the baby in the stroller, talked about where they were going, and took turns pushing it around the dramatic play area. They even pretended to put the baby down for a nap in the bed. Through this play, they were learning how to cooperate, communicate, and understand what it means to care for someone else.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, they were incredibly excited. Many of them immediately began talking about the different things they could pretend to do. The stroller and baby accessories sparked conversations about family roles, and students quickly began acting out stories and daily routines they see at home. Their excitement and creativity filled the classroom with laughter and imaginative storytelling.\r\n\r\nAnother highlight has been the addition of the styling heads, which helped us create a pretend hair and nail salon in our dramatic play area. The students absolutely loved this idea, especially since they already enjoy pretending to style hair during the day. Now they can brush, style, and decorate the dolls' hair while role-playing as stylists and customers. The makeup and nail kits add another layer of pretend play as they practice taking turns, asking questions, and communicating with each other just like they would in a real salon. This type of role-playing helps build confidence and encourages meaningful conversations between students.\r\n\r\nThese materials are also helping students expand their imagination in our block and dramatic play centers. They are learning how to create stories, assign roles, and work together to build their own little worlds during playtime. These experiences strengthen their social skills, communication, and problem-solving abilities.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the school year, the next step is encouraging students to build even more complex stories during dramatic play. We will be connecting our play to classroom themes by exploring different careers and community roles. Students will have opportunities to act out jobs such as parents, hairstylists, caregivers, and other helpers in the community. These activities will continue helping them develop language skills, cooperation, and creativity.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has helped create a learning environment where imagination thrives and students feel excited to explore, interact, and learn together. Because of your kindness, my students now have new puzzles and learning toys that are already making a wonderful impact on their daily learning and play.\r\n\r\nSince receiving the puzzles, the students have been eager to explore them during our learning centers. One of my favorite moments was watching a small group of students work together on a chunky puzzle. At first, they tried fitting pieces in different spaces, turning them around and discussing where they might go. When one student finally placed the correct piece, the group cheered and immediately began helping each other find the next one. These moments of teamwork and problem-solving show just how valuable puzzles are for developing critical thinking and cooperation.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new puzzles, their excitement was contagious. They gathered around the shelf, curious about the different types—chunky puzzles, peg puzzles, and traditional puzzles. Many of them immediately wanted to try them, carefully picking up the pieces and examining the pictures and shapes. The variety of puzzles allows students at different skill levels to participate and feel successful as they learn.\r\n\r\nThrough these puzzles, students are practicing so many important skills. They are learning about colors, numbers, shapes, and patterns while also strengthening their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. Just as importantly, they are learning patience and perseverance when a puzzle feels challenging, and they are discovering how working together can help solve problems.\r\n\r\nThe puzzles have also created wonderful opportunities for social development. Students often sit together, take turns placing pieces, and encourage one another. When it is time to clean up, they are learning responsibility by making sure every piece goes back with the correct puzzle and onto the shelf where it belongs.\r\n\r\nThe new toys in our block area have also added a new layer of imaginative learning. Students love using the bus and vehicles during pretend play, driving passengers around their block-built towns and connecting different vehicles with buildings in their city. This role-playing helps them develop creativity, storytelling skills, and an understanding of how communities work.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward in the school year, we will continue using these puzzles and block-area toys to build problem-solving skills, cooperation, and independence. Students will be encouraged to challenge themselves with more complex puzzles and to work together in small groups to complete them. We will also expand our pretend play in the block area by creating small \"communities\" where students can connect buildings, vehicles, and people.\r\n\r\nYour support has provided my students with meaningful opportunities to learn through play, exploration, and teamwork. Your generosity has already made a meaningful impact on my students, and I am so grateful for the resources you helped provide.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting activities we introduced was the seek-and-find name tubes made with the stickers, beads, rice, erasers, and test tubes. Each child has been searching through their tube to find the letters that make up their own name. Watching their faces light up when they discover a letter from their name has been such a special moment. Students proudly call out the letters they find and practice putting them in order to spell their name. These activities are helping them build the foundational skills of letter recognition, name identification, and early literacy in a fun and hands-on way.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, they were incredibly excited. The colorful beads, fun erasers, and unique test tubes immediately sparked their curiosity. They eagerly gathered around to see what we would create with them and could not wait to start exploring. Their enthusiasm made the classroom feel even more joyful and energized.\r\n\r\nThe geometric solids and Froggy Feeding Fun activity have also become favorites during our math time. The geometric solids allow students to explore 3D shapes by touching, stacking, and comparing them, which helps them better understand the shapes they see around them in everyday life. With the Froggy Feeding activity, students practice color identification, number recognition, and counting while also strengthening their fine motor skills as they feed the frog the correct pieces.\r\n\r\nMusic and movement time has become even more engaging thanks to the bells. Students love creating their own rhythms and exploring different sounds while we sing and move together. This activity helps build coordination and encourages creativity.\r\n\r\nThe playhouse wash-and-dry dish set has also been a wonderful addition to our classroom. Students enjoy pretending to cook meals, serve food to friends, and clean up afterward. This type of imaginative play helps them practice important social skills such as sharing, cooperating, and communicating with classmates. It has been wonderful to see them work together and build friendships during this pretend play time.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, my students are learning through exploration, creativity, and hands-on discovery every day.
