To instill the love of reading in young children it is very important to first build the foundation. By having great literature and books for the children to read will assist in this process. Children LOVE to have books read to them but they also LOVE when they are confident enough to read on their own. This project is requesting class sets of leveled books from the Amelia Bedelia, I Can Read, My First I Can Read series. My children are in need of these leveled books to help them become more independent and confident readers. It has been a challenging academic year due to limited and financial resources at our school with the expansion of the high school and trying to meet the overhead needs. With this donation I will be able to put the necessary tools in the hands of the children in my classroom to learn to read with confidence. I love watching the children grow as readers as the year progresses and to see how excited it makes them when they finish reading books all by themselves. It is important to make sure that every child is given every opportunity for success
