My students were so excited when they saw the new bulletin boards and storage bins — they immediately began helping me organize supplies and pin up their favorite pieces of work. The rotating pencil holders have made it easier for them to find what they need quickly, promoting independence and responsibility.\r\n\r\nOne special moment was when a few students proudly used the cork boards to display their \"All About Me\" projects. Seeing their work showcased boosted their confidence and sparked conversations among classmates about each other's interests and strengths.\r\n\r\nNow that our classroom is more functional and inviting, my students can focus more on their learning projects and creative tasks. Our next step is to use these spaces to feature ongoing STEM and art projects, helping students share their learning journeys and celebrate their growth together.","fullyFundedDate":1762266327193,"projectUrl":"project/providing-essential-tools-for-a-creative/9567859/","projectTitle":"Providing Essential Tools For A Creative And Focused Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. ORN","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8423164_orig.jpg?crop=1310,1310,x191,y853&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1748746434273","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/missorn"},{"teacherId":8423164,"projectId":9366649,"letterContent":"The moment our new sewing machine and heavy-duty scissors arrived, my students were filled with excitement and curiosity! Many of them had never seen a real sewing machine before, and their faces lit up with anticipation when I explained we'd be using it to make real items — like pencil pouches, mini pillows, and sensory-friendly fidget tools.\r\n\r\nWe started by learning the names of each part of the sewing machine, then practiced with threading and guiding fabric. For some of my students with fine motor or sensory needs, even just pushing fabric through with two hands was a big win! The scissors were perfect for students who needed extra grip support, and they've become a tool we use daily across art, life skills, and even math (measuring fabric!).\r\n\r\nOne of the most beautiful moments was watching a student with limited verbal skills complete their first stitching line with pride — they beamed and immediately asked to make something for their mom. Projects like these aren't just crafts — they build confidence, patience, and independence.\r\n\r\nUp next, we're working on a classroom quilt where each student designs a square that represents them. This project will allow them to express their identity while practicing skills like measuring, cutting, and following a pattern. It was incredible to see them learning to play and also choosing to engage others to share how to play the game. I'm excited to share how my students are using the new literacy resources and ABC games donated by our generous donors. I watched as their faces lit up with excitement, and they eagerly started playing the ABC games independently, reinforcing their letter recognition and phonemic awareness.\r\n\r\nSince receiving these resources, my students have become much more engaged and confident in their learning. They love practicing their alphabet skills through interactive games, which have made learning both fun and meaningful. The students are now taking more initiative, working in pairs or small groups to complete activities, which has fostered collaboration and critical thinking.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, the next step for my students is to apply what they've learned by creating their own simple stories and words using the alphabet tools.
