For most of my students, the year they leave is the school year during which they turn 21 years of age. Each year a student is involved in this program, we try to increase the skills they are able to practice and learn. \r\n\r\nWith the duster, sweeper, laminator, Velcro and extension cords purchased through this project, we will be able to add a variety of new jobs for our kids as well as increase their investment in our classroom. From housekeeping tasks, such as dusting and sweeping to keep our environment clean, to using a laminator and Velcro to assemble learning materials, these new experiences will be skills that our young adults can take with them into their post-graduate lives.","fullyFundedDate":1755701092135,"projectUrl":"project/work-study-skills-for-a-lifetime/9569704/","projectTitle":"Work Study-Skills for a Lifetime","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lori","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6388298_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1695644375430","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6388298"},{"teacherId":1549391,"projectId":8969160,"letterContent":"My students were excited to get the new books. Thanks to your generous support, my students now have access to a wonderful collection of new books, and the difference has been incredible! These texts have opened doors to deeper discussions, stronger reading skills, and a renewed excitement for learning.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading has become an active, joyful experience. Students are practicing skills like identifying themes, analyzing characters' motivations, and making text-to-self connections. We've also been exploring new vocabulary and learning how authors use language to create emotion and meaning. It's amazing to watch students use evidence from the text to support their ideas during group discussions and writing activities.\r\n\r\nThe new books have truly changed the atmosphere in our room. Students are reading during free time, recommending books to one another, and even asking if they can take them home to share with their families. One student who used to struggle with reading found a story that really resonated with her and has been finishing books on her own for the first time! \r\n\r\nYour generosity has not only filled our shelves but also inspired a lifelong love of reading. Our students' parents also enjoy seeing the items their kids create and bring home. We often see pictures on Facebook of the items we send home with comments about how much the parents like the item or how proud they are of their students for completing the project.\r\n\r\nI am sure that these same things will occur when we use the materials we received from this project as well!","fullyFundedDate":1741278269123,"projectUrl":"project/create-monthly-keepsakes/9136780/","projectTitle":"Create Monthly Keepsakes","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lori","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6388298_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1695644375430","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6388298"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_39049","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1048,"numTeachers":90,"percentFrplEligible":85,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":95,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":1,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"11.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":46.7,"schoolId":39049,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about John Marshall High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"John Marshall High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/west-virginia/marshall-county-school-district/john-marshall-high-school/39049"}
