My students were super excited when the boxes of supplies were delivered. My students love to paint! In fact, I have one student who asks everyday about painting a birdhouse. \r\n\r\nI plan to start using these supplies later this month when we talk about the beginning of spring and the changes that come with it. At that time, we will construct, paint and decorate the birdhouses. After the birdhouses are finished, the students will take them home to share with their families. \r\n\r\nAs for the picture frames, we will use those closer to the end of the school year. My students will get to paint and decorate their own picture frames. We will then take a current picture of each student to put in their frame. We sent pictures on the first day of school so I think this will be a nice comparison keepsake for my students.\r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you! Without community support, my students would not get these types of hands on experiences.","fullyFundedDate":1768413721501,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-creations/9984228/","projectTitle":"Hands On Creations","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lori","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6388298_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1695644375430","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6388298"},{"teacherId":1549391,"projectId":9882127,"letterContent":"My students were so excited to receive the new books they requested. Thank you for making this possible! The moment the books arrived, students couldn't wait to look through them and begin reading.\r\n\r\nAs you can tell from the list, many of my students are especially drawn to the author Gary Paulsen. As a class, we studied Hatchet, and that experience truly sparked their interest in his writing. Students connected deeply with the characters, themes of survival, and the sense of adventure, which motivated them to want to read more independently.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, my students now have access to books they are genuinely excited about. This project has helped strengthen their love of reading, encouraged independent reading, and made our classroom library a place of curiosity and enthusiasm. Seeing students voluntarily pick up books and recommend them to one another has been incredibly rewarding.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my students and supporting their learning. For most of my students, the year they leave is the school year during which they turn 21 years of age. Each year a student is involved in this program, we try to increase the skills they are able to practice and learn. \r\n\r\nWith the duster, sweeper, laminator, Velcro and extension cords purchased through this project, we will be able to add a variety of new jobs for our kids as well as increase their investment in our classroom. Thanks to your generous support, my students now have access to a wonderful collection of new books, and the difference has been incredible! These texts have opened doors to deeper discussions, stronger reading skills, and a renewed excitement for learning.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading has become an active, joyful experience. Students are practicing skills like identifying themes, analyzing characters' motivations, and making text-to-self connections. We've also been exploring new vocabulary and learning how authors use language to create emotion and meaning. It's amazing to watch students use evidence from the text to support their ideas during group discussions and writing activities.\r\n\r\nThe new books have truly changed the atmosphere in our room. Students are reading during free time, recommending books to one another, and even asking if they can take them home to share with their families. One student who used to struggle with reading found a story that really resonated with her and has been finishing books on her own for the first time! \r\n\r\nYour generosity has not only filled our shelves but also inspired a lifelong love of reading.
