These books, some fiction and some nonfiction, will peak my students’ interest enough to make them want to read. In doing so, students will read and will be exposed to various issues current in today’s society: race, culture, LGBTQ+, women’s issues, military experiences among others. The goal is to expose students to books and educate themselves on issues relating to them. Hopefully students can see not only their world but a world outside of their smaller community. My hope is these books inspire students to educate themselves more on issues within the pages of the cover and to continue lifelong reading.
