They immediately wanted to start building and creating. Many of them were especially interested in the paper trimmer because it made their work look more polished. They also enjoyed having a designated place to throw away scraps, which made them feel more responsible and independent. Their enthusiasm carried throughout the entire lesson.\r\n\r\nMy students recently used the new materials during a hands-on STEM project where they designed and built simple prototypes using paper and cardboard. The Westcott paper trimmer allowed them to make precise cuts for their designs, which helped their projects look neat and professional. As they worked, they used the wastebasket to clean up scraps and keep their workspace organized. This helped them stay focused and work more efficiently. It was exciting to watch them take pride in both their creations and their responsibility for keeping their area clean. The pictures I uploaded show them using the paper trimmer and waste baskets for the first time.\r\n\r\nThe next step for my students is to continue developing their STEM skills by designing their own original projects. They will begin planning and building more detailed prototypes, focusing on improving their designs and solving problems they encounter along the way. We will also incorporate communication tools like the walkie talkies during group and outdoor activities so students can collaborate and share ideas more effectively. My goal is for students to think like engineers by testing, improving, and refining their work. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for your generosity and showing kindness to my students.","fullyFundedDate":1762892727562,"projectUrl":"project/stem-smart-talk-trim-and-tidy-for-suc/9814471/","projectTitle":"STEM Smart: Talk, Trim, and Tidy for Success!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Webster","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp199128_orig.jpg?crop=640,640,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1609003606748","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/webbyssecondgrade"},{"teacherId":199128,"projectId":9807555,"letterContent":"I want to thank you so much for funding my project and giving my students a wonderful teaching tool. Since receiving this iPad, my students can see lessons on our SmartBoard and are more engaged in their learning.\r\n\r\nFirst, I need to give you some background on how my students are learning using this iPad. We use a SmartBoard product called SmartBoard Lumio in our classroom. This is a program where I import Notebook, PowerPoint, and Google Slides presentations, and then add interactive features or create an interactive presentation from scratch. I can control what each student sees on their Chromebook by advancing each slide myself with this iPad.\r\n\r\nMy students are more focused on what they are learning. At the same time, while controlling what they see on their Chromebooks, I can mirror each slide on our SmartBoard. Students are now able to go to the SmartBoard to add, subtract, read sentences, correct sentences, write stories, and much more. They are more engaged in the lessons because they can go to the SmartBoard and write on it. Also, my students can see a question on a slide on their Chromebook, think about how to answer it, and then go to the SmartBoard to write their answer. This was not possible before you gave us this learning tool.\r\n\r\nIn the future my students will use this iPad for small group learning during ELA. My students will also use it for math flash cards, sight word flash cards, and designing.\r\n\r\nI am so blessed that you funded our project and made learning more fun in our classroom!","fullyFundedDate":1762892430435,"projectUrl":"project/smartboard-meets-ipad-11-learning-right/9807555/","projectTitle":"Smartboard Meets iPad 11: Learning Right at Their Fingertips!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Webster","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp199128_orig.jpg?crop=640,640,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1609003606748","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/webbyssecondgrade"},{"teacherId":199128,"projectId":9691628,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for funding our project and providing us with this 3D printer. My students have thoroughly enjoyed printing items for themselves, our classroom, and other teachers.\r\n\r\nOne of the items we created were Valentine's Day dragons as gifts. As you can see in the pictures, my students absolutely loved them. They were especially fascinated that the flexible dragon printed as a single piece without needing assembly. I printed one as a class model, and we dissected it together to better understand how the designer created it. The students were truly intrigued: one even shared that he now wants to design 3D models for others when he grows up.\r\n\r\nUsing their Chromebooks, my students learned how to navigate MakerWorld.com, search for items they wanted to print, and send those designs to our printer. They also learned how to slice a plate in Bambu Studio, export the correct file type to a flash drive, insert the drive into the printer, and complete the printing process. Our next step will be learning how to use Tinkercad to design their own original models.\r\n\r\nIn addition, students printed peacock feather fidget spinners. When teachers visited our classroom, they often asked where I had purchased them. My students were proud to explain that they had printed them themselves. They were also incredibly generous, gifting several of the fidget spinners to teachers. One student even joked that teachers must need fidget spinners too!\r\n\r\nMy students also selected what to place on our key fobs to identify our classroom's from other classes. You can see, in the pictures, two students holding up lanyards with a pig on each one. They knew that I like pigs so they chose a pig for them. \r\n\r\nThank you for helping my students become lifelong learners and a potential career at OGE or a STEM career.","fullyFundedDate":1762892428673,"projectUrl":"project/second-graders-as-makers-designing-our/9691628/","projectTitle":"Second Graders as Makers: Designing Our Future With 3d Printing!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Webster","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp199128_orig.jpg?crop=640,640,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1609003606748","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/webbyssecondgrade"},{"teacherId":8307561,"projectId":9876210,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our classroom project.
