They adore the graphic novels much better than general chapter books! We discuss the themes in the books and how they relate to them in real life. In my counseling office, the books are open for students to peruse and select the one they want. They can choose another book when they return the one they borrowed.\r\n\r\n A few reactions so far have been, \"The book was sooo good!\" They appreciate seeing characters and stories similar to their backgrounds and experiences. The goal is to get my students more involved in reading for pleasure; not just for work completion. Your donations have given my students the freedom to learn to read for fun. The access to newer culturally relevant characters is paramount in forging their love of reading.
