Students were very excited to receive the donations and couldn't wait to enjoy using the flexible seating options and reading the books. The games provided opportunities for students to engage with one another during inside recess instead of being on a computer or directed by me, the teacher.\r\n\r\nI was able to expand my library to include books that are representative of the diversity of my students. They have enjoyed reading and told me personally that the books are ones they have learned and grown from. In our classroom, we have reading goals each trimester. My class's current goal is to reach 20 million words by the end of February. Having more options and ones that are of high interest helps students to reach their goals. \r\n\r\nThe donations also provided a variety of seating for my students. I have learned that students can work in different settings, and having different seating options allows them to work more efficiently and effectively. The favorite item is the bean bag. Many students want to sit and do their work, enjoying a new seating arrangement.
