You're in a bad mood because you had a fight with your brother this morning? Let's take a few minutes to talk about it and do some breathing exercises. You want to tell me about the cute thing your dog did? Absolutely, now is the perfect time. The counselor's at the door with four students that will be in my class today because they couldn't find a sub? Come on in, let me show you where to put your stuff and take a few minutes to teach you our rules and routines. On a good day, I even get to enjoy the morning bins with my students and learn about who they are outside of academics.\r\nOne of my favorite parts of our morning bin time has been seeing how the new toys have sparked my students' creativity. When I showed them how they worked, they thought they were kind of cool, but it wasn't until they saw their work hanging on the roller strips that they started to understand the value that they add to our classroom.\r\nBefore the roller strips, it was all too common for me to walk into my classroom to find art that someone walking by had slipped under my door after it fell off the wall. I considered it lucky that most of the time, our hard work was picked up before it got stepped on. Taking art down became almost as hard as putting it up, as I tried to strategically cut or fold my rolls of tape to keep from managing my students' hard work.\r\nThe best part of the roller strips is how little time I have to spend thinking about them. I can take down one assignment and hang up another one in less than five minutes. That means that I can hang my students' work up the same day that they complete it, sometimes even during lunch so that they can show it off to their parents when they get picked up. Especially at such a young age, getting to show off their work so quickly helps my students develop pride in their work, and motivates them to work hard and do their best.","fullyFundedDate":1762537888002,"projectUrl":"project/showstopping-displays-in-first-grade/9495053/","projectTitle":"Showstopping Displays in First Grade","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Emily","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9490961_orig.jpg?crop=1980,1980,x0,y330&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1711585083070","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/cactuscrew"},{"teacherId":837869,"projectId":9612393,"letterContent":"Thank you for donating to our project and getting us a variety of books about Ruby Bridges and supplies for our classroom.
