When funding at our schools was low, you all pulled in and gave our students hope! I ordered a variety of things for all of my classes...new compasses for my geometry classes, awesome magnetic erasers for all my classes so they could easily wipe away on their whiteboards, and much needed STEM supplies for my IB Design classes such as screws that they needed to put their projects together and screw sets which they will be using for their next project. I am sharing some pictures from my Design class as they used some of the materials we had ordered. Every little item received was quite helpful and I am so glad this funding came through as I had been scratching my head trying to figure out how we were going to fund our hands on projects! Because of you, my students have access to an incredible set of resources that strengthen both their literacy skills and their confidence as learners.\r\n\r\nThe books you provided introduce and deepen essential reading skills such as analyzing theme, character development, author's purpose, and point of view. Texts like *March: Book One*, *And We Rise*, *Choosing Brave*, and the YA Paperback Book Club set allow students to explore history, identity, and justice while practicing close reading and discussion skills. These texts pair beautifully with *Civil Discourse: Classroom Conversations for Stronger Communities*, which helps students learn how to respectfully discuss complex ideas, listen to differing perspectives, and support their thinking with evidence.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is active, hands-on, and student-centered. Students use the write & wipe lapboards, reusable write & wipe pockets, dry erase markers, and guided reading strips to track their thinking, annotate texts, and respond in real time during discussions. Headphones allow students to listen to audiobooks or instructional recordings while reading along, making texts more accessible for all learners. We also use the Human Body flip chart and coloring book to connect literacy skills to informational reading and science content, reinforcing comprehension across subjects.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who previously struggled with focus or confidence have been especially engaged. Students who benefit from visual supports love the guided reading strips and wipe-off tools, while others are drawn to the powerful storytelling in *March* and the poetry in *And We Rise*. I've seen students excitedly recommend books to classmates, reflect thoughtfully in the *Mindfulness Journal for Teens*, and proudly share insights during discussions. The colorful paper and classroom supplies have also helped students present their thinking creatively and with pride.\r\n\r\nYour support has helped create a classroom where reading is interactive, meaningful, and inclusive. These materials are not only books and supplies—they are tools that help students feel capable, curious, and heard. Thank you for investing in my students and for making our literacy community stronger.","fullyFundedDate":1760315632666,"projectUrl":"project/mulrooney-literacy-initiative/9817745/","projectTitle":"Mulrooney Literacy Initiative","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mulrooney","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10308788_orig.jpg?crop=1080,1080,x248,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1760194417806","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10308788"},{"teacherId":10265462,"projectId":9878783,"letterContent":"Thank you from our classroom! Because of you, our classroom library now has proper storage cabinets that make books accessible, organized, and inviting for students. Having a well-organized library has already made a noticeable difference—students are more excited to choose books, take responsibility for our shared space, and spend time reading independently.\r\n\r\nYour donations also made flexible seating possible, including resistance bands for foot wiggling, which has been a game changer for focus and comfort. These options allow students to move in appropriate ways while learning, helping them stay engaged and ready to learn. Your kindness has directly impacted our daily classroom experience, and my students and I are incredibly grateful for your investment in their learning and well-being.
