Most of my students come from low-income families, where they are unable to support them with basic needs. It has made a huge difference in our large class of advanced pottery students. Previously, with seven students in one class, they would have had to rotate using the pottery wheel. Now, thanks to your support, everyone has their own wheel and can work without waiting.\r\n\r\nThe students were so excited to try the new wheel; they all wanted to be the first ones to use it! We even had a rock-paper-scissors tournament to decide who got the first turn – I won! After demonstrating the wheel, the students were able to get to work. They were also impressed that we could easily set it up as a left-handed wheel if needed. In total, the wheel benefits all 18 students across our ceramics advanced classes.\r\n\r\nCurrently, the students are learning the fundamental skill of centering the clay on the wheel before moving on to creating functional or decorative pieces. Once they master centering, they will create cylinder vessels. Future projects include plates, chip-and-dip platters, and vases.
