The joy and excitement on my students' faces when they saw all the new math games/centers truly made my heart happy. They could not wait to explore the activities and begin learning through play!\r\n\r\nThese new math stations are already making a difference in our classroom. My students are using them to strengthen their math skills, build confidence, and practice important concepts in a fun and engaging way. What makes these resources even more special is that students are able to work together, learn from one another, and enjoy math while closing learning gaps. They also love the fact that they play with me sometimes. They love beating me.\r\n\r\nYour kindness has given my students more than just games and materials. You have provided them with opportunities to grow, succeed, and become more confident mathematicians. You have also, provided them opportunities to clean together. They realize their germs make an impact on the classroom. They are learning that through keeping the classroom clean. They can continue to support their organizational skills.\r\n\r\nThank you again for investing in my students and helping make our classroom a place where learning is exciting. My students are excited to use the new math resources to practice place value, multiplication, rounding, and problem-solving skills. The hands-on materials and visuals supports help them better understand challenging concepts and make learning math more meaningful.\r\n\r\nOne of the best parts of this project is seeing students use the materials to explore math, practice different strategies, and build confidence in their abilities. Our classroom displays and math tools serve as helpful reminders that there is more than one way to solve a problem. We are continuing to use these materials in our daily essons and math practice activities to strengthen foundational skills and encourage students to explain their thinking. \r\n\r\nBecause of your kindness, my students have more opportunities to learn by doing, work through challenges, and celebrate their progress. Our next step is to continue incorporating these resources into math centers and small-group instruction, giving students more chances to practice independently and with their classmates. In our classroom, technology is not simply used for entertainment, it gives students additional opportunities to practice listening and speaking, develop vocabulary, and participate in academic conversations. Students can use the technology to interact with one another, practice new language in a supportive setting, and build confidence using English while learning grade-level content.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students most is having a new and engaging way to practice communication. Students who were initially quiet or hesitant to speak English have become more willing to participate when they can practice with a partner or in a small group before sharing with the whole class. I have especially noticed this with students who worry about making mistakes in English. They are beginning to take more risks, ask questions, share their ideas, and encourage one another. Seeing these students become more comfortable using their voices has been one of the most rewarding outcomes of this project.\r\n\r\nThe project has also helped create a classroom environment where students understand that making mistakes is a natural and important part of learning a language. They are becoming more confident communicators, more active participants, and more willing to collaborate with their classmates. I am very grateful to our donors for providing technology that has helped my students turn language practice into an engaging, purposeful, and confidence-building experience.","fullyFundedDate":1776461251565,"projectUrl":"project/helping-english-learners-build-confidenc/10053947/","projectTitle":"Helping English Learners Build Confidence Through Conversation","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Monllor","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10303471_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1759884971132","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10303471"},{"teacherId":10303471,"projectId":9853682,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, my students are now using their binders, dividers, and headphones every single day to stay organized and focused. The binders have transformed how students manage their work (assignments are no longer crumpled or lost), and students can quickly find what they need during lessons. One moment that truly stood out was during a reading and writing block: students independently pulled out the correct section of their binders, put on their headphones, and worked quietly with confidence. The structure these tools provide has helped create a calmer, more productive learning environment where students feel prepared and successful.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials arrived, my students were genuinely excited. Many of them had never owned a binder or personal headphones before, and seeing each child receive the same high-quality supplies made them feel valued and included. Several students immediately began organizing their papers with pride, and others shared how the headphones helped them concentrate better during independent reading and online learning activities. Their enthusiasm reminded me how powerful it is to remove barriers so students can focus fully on learning.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, my students are now better equipped as we continue working on reading comprehension, writing projects, and independent learning tasks that require focus and organization. These tools will continue to support them throughout the school year as they build responsibility, confidence, and strong learning habits. Putting books in readers' hands and giving them the opportunity to sit down and read is crucial in building confident readers. By rotating library books inside the classrooms, students can spend their extra time in a cozy corner, reading. This provides multiple opportunities throughout the day. In addition, students are exposed to multiple genres and subjects. Self-chosen texts are also an important component in encouraging a lifelong love of reading. \r\nOur teachers have been excited as they are handed their bags. They have the choice of a variety pack or a requested theme. Students earn the position of bringing the book bag to the library for book rotating. Students who finish an activity early have something quiet to do while the teacher focuses on the students still working. This has been a gift to the classroom in many ways. Some teachers have asked to have 2 book bags at a time!\r\nThank you from me, the librarian, for helping me provide a greater service to the campus. The models of and the live ants have worked as great ways for students to learn the body parts. Watching the ants build tunnels and carry their food has been a great hands-on learning tool. We have discussed the role insects have in our environment and food chains.\r\nOther grades were learning about living vs. nonliving. In addition to sand vs. ants, we have also discussed the living ants that died. We have learned about their life cycle, making connections to the butterflies we studied last year. We will extend this discussion next month as we move into a unit on marine animals. \r\nStudents have also turned into scientists, learning to use magnifying glasses, studying how the colony interacts, watching how the sunrise affects the location of ants within the colony, and more. By adding soft, warm lighting and creating a cozy, welcoming reading environment, students now see our reading corner as a place they want to be, not just a place they go. The calmer lighting has helped reduce visual overstimulation and has made the space feel safe, peaceful, and inviting.\r\n\r\nSince implementing the project, I have observed increased motivation simply because the space feels special and comfortable. I've seen students engage with books more eagerly and spend more time reading independently. The new lamps and cozy atmosphere have also boosted students' ability to focus, self-regulate, and enjoy their literacy time. \r\n\r\nThe project has improved the overall climate of our classroom. Students often choose the reading area as a place to calm down, reflect, or work quietly.
