These kits quickly became a centerpiece of our hands-on learning time. Students are using them to design, build, test, and improve moving models while applying concepts from science, math, and engineering. One standout project involved small teams designing motorized vehicles that had to travel a set distance while carrying a small load. Students experimented with learning through trial and error and proudly redesigning when their first ideas didn't work.\r\n\r\nWhen the kits first arrived, the excitement was unmistakable. Students gathered around as we opened the boxes, eagerly identifying pieces and brainstorming what they could build. Many students who are usually hesitant to participate jumped right in, asking thoughtful questions and collaborating naturally with classmates. The motors were especially exciting—seeing something they built actually move sparked curiosity and confidence. Students took ownership of their learning and were motivated to solve problems together.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, students are now moving into deeper STEM challenges. Our next steps include integrating these kits into a longer-term engineering design project where students will plan, build, and present a solution to a real-world problem. They will document their designs, reflect on improvements, and explain how their models work. Your generosity has given students more than materials—it has given them opportunities to explore, create, and believe in their ability to think like engineers. Thank you Donor's Choose donors for giving us a meaningful peek into what engaged, joyful learning can look like in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1756163714653,"projectUrl":"project/gate-gifted-and-talented-education-eng/9605628/","projectTitle":"GATE (Gifted And Talented Education) Engaging Supplies","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Wortman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9553455_orig.jpg?crop=480,480,x0,y62&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1718045134084","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9553455"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_83097","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":462,"numTeachers":30,"percentFrplEligible":29,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":57,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":28,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"15.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":80.8,"schoolId":83097,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Jessie Beck Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Jessie Beck Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/nevada/washoe-county-school-district/jessie-beck-elementary-school/83097"}
