These ant farms sparked rich conversations about ecosystems, roles within communities, and structure and function. Students recorded observations, asked thoughtful questions, and made predictions, naturally integrating science, writing, and speaking skills in a way that felt purposeful and engaging.\r\nIn addition, students designed and maintained small aquatic ecosystems with fish, which deepened their understanding of balance and interdependence in nature.
