We have already begun putting the materials to work during our Math Academy stations. Students are using the playing cards, dice, math games, flash cards, and reusable pockets to practice important foundational skills in ways that feel much more like a challenge or game than another worksheet. The timer has also been a great addition to our station rotations and helps students know how much time they have at each activity.\r\n\r\nIt has been wonderful to see students become more willing to practice skills that have been difficult for them in the past. Math fact fluency is an important focus for us, and these resources allow students to practice addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and order of operations over and over in different ways. The hands-on materials also make it easier for me to adjust activities for different skill levels so that every student can experience success while still being challenged.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue building these activities into our daily routine and use them as students strengthen their skills throughout the year. My hope is that as their math skills grow, their confidence will grow right along with them. Thank you for giving my students engaging resources that help make math practice something they can look forward to!","fullyFundedDate":1776646729266,"projectUrl":"project/building-our-math-classroom-from-scratch/10169483/","projectTitle":"Building Our Math Classroom From Scratch","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Cuzzort","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3540454_orig.jpg?crop=3984,3984,x672,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1774451133182","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/cuzzort"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_27457","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":505,"numTeachers":43,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":56,"percentWhite":25,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":13,"gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"11.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":70.0,"schoolId":27457,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Jefferson Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Jefferson Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/springfield-public-schools-district-186/jefferson-middle-school/27457"}
