When my students saw The Very Hungry Caterpillar Sensory Bin, they immediately reached for the textured pieces and began exploring together. The color visual timer helped everyone understand exactly how long each outdoor activity would last, easing transitions and reducing anxiety. By the end of the school year, every student had planted their own individual plant to take home. Then, in our final school days together, we made simple Pete the Cat bookmarks featuring everyone's favorite storybook character. This will allow each child to have their familiar friend, Pete, while reading board books at home this summer.\r\n\r\nTo promote the universal design for outdoor learning, I kept storytime short and paired it with hands-on STEM or conservation activities. By using visual schedules and adaptive tools, every student could follow along. For bookmark making, I offered texture choices (smooth tagboard and slightly bumpy recycled board) and adapted scissors so all hands—regardless of fine motor ability—could participate. One specific moment stands out: A student who typically refuses art activities picked up an adapted pair of scissors, cut her own Pete the Cat shape, and held it up with a huge smile. Your donation did not just buy supplies. It sent each child home with a living plant, a beloved character bookmark, and the confidence that outdoor learning is for everyone. Hunt Elementary, a Title 1 school where access to cutting-edge technology is often a dream, not a reality. Thanks to you, that dream is now alive in our media center every single day. The Sphero Indi robotics kits you funded have completely transformed how my students understand coding, computer science, and even artificial intelligence. Instead of staring at a screen trying to grasp abstract logic, they are physically arranging color tiles on the floor, watching their robots respond, and literally building sequences with their hands. That immediate, sensory feedback is everything. My students aren't just memorizing commands. They are seeing cause and effect in real time. They are learning that coding is a language of logic, patterns, and creativity. And because I rotate every 3rd through 5th grade class through the media center, your gift isn't helping just one group. It's reaching every single upper elementary student in our school. \r\n\r\nWhat excites my students most is the moment they realize they are in control. When a little robot named Indi follows their color pattern perfectly, I hear gasps, cheers, and usually someone shouting, \"I did it!\" They love experimenting with how Indi \"sees\" color and reacts—slowing down for yellow, stopping for red, zipping forward for green. That playful discovery is their first, unforgettable lesson in artificial intelligence. They don't just feel like users of technology. They feel like builders. One of my quietest 4th graders, a girl who rarely raises her hand in class, lit up the moment she debugged her own tile sequence. She spent twenty minutes testing, failing, adjusting, and grinning the whole time. Another student, who often struggles with reading, has become our go-to \"Indi expert,\" helping his peers troubleshoot their code with confidence I've never seen from him before. These are the moments you made possible. You didn't just give us robots. You gave my students permission to think like creators, problem-solvers, and future engineers. Thank you for fueling their futures—one colorful tile at a time.","fullyFundedDate":1776694067408,"projectUrl":"project/indy-500-racing-into-coding-and-ai/9996435/","projectTitle":"Indy 500: Racing into Coding and AI","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Pinder","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8749721_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1765730332133","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8749721"},{"teacherId":4533626,"projectId":9910198,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our Wise Prize Den: Rewards That Inspire! project.
