Thanks to your generosity, we've been able to transform our small, cluttered space into a safer, more efficient environment where students can focus on making music. The extra-long extension cord allows us to route power along the back wall, keeping cords out of walkways and reducing potential tripping hazards. We've installed wall hooks in convenient locations for storing cables, and the Velcro cable wraps help us keep everything neat, organized, and easily accessible. These improvements may seem small, but they make a big difference in a room where every inch of space matters!\r\n\r\nThe DC adapter has also allowed us to get our karaoke machine working again. We can now use it for Karaoke Club meetings and as a portable PA system for various school events, extending the impact of your donation beyond our guitar program.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting additions, however, have been the new looper pedal, pedal power bank, and patch cables. Our guitarists are beginning to explore the creative possibilities of this technology, experimenting with layering musical ideas, developing their improvisation skills, and learning how to use effects equipment. We're still discovering everything these new tools can do, but students are already having a wonderful time experimenting and learning together. Each November, our guitar classes participate in an annual improvisation exploration, and we're especially excited to incorporate this new technology into those lessons. The looper pedal will give students opportunities to create their own accompaniments, experiment with musical ideas, and develop greater confidence as independent musicians.\r\n\r\nHaving a dedicated, organized space encourages students to collaborate, experiment, and make music outside of their regular class time. Thank you so much for helping us turn our little technology storage room into a more functional and inspiring creative space. Your support is making a lasting difference for our young musicians!","fullyFundedDate":1782819444195,"projectUrl":"project/door-two-jam-zone-small-space-big-soun/10236692/","projectTitle":"Door Two Jam Zone: Small Space, Big Sound","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Austin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4529693_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1499455360288","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/jodi-austin"},{"teacherId":4529693,"projectId":10224527,"letterContent":"The garden club is off to a great start this year, thanks to your generosity! We welcomed many new gardeners during our annual club sign-up event, where we were able to use the stickers you provided to help generate excitement about joining. Our students have already put the gloves, weeder, pruning shears, and cultivator to good use as they worked together to clean up and maintain our school's senior courtyard. It has been wonderful to see both new and returning members working side by side, learning new skills, and taking pride in improving our school environment.\r\n\r\nWe look forward to being able put the garden tools to long term use in our current and future projects. As the seasons change, students will continue maintaining our garden, planting new seeds and bulbs, and learning about the care and responsibility that come with growing things. These hands-on experiences give students opportunities to collaborate, solve problems, and enjoy time outdoors while making a lasting contribution to our school.\r\n\r\nPerhaps most importantly, your generosity helps us keep the garden club completely free for our students. We do not charge annual membership dues, which means that every student can participate, regardless of their family's financial circumstances. Your support makes it possible for us to provide the tools, materials, and experiences that make our club meaningful and accessible to everyone. Thank you for helping us grow not only our garden, but also a welcoming community where students can learn, contribute, and belong!","fullyFundedDate":1779303442667,"projectUrl":"project/weed-it-and-reap-garden-friends/10224527/","projectTitle":"Weed It and Reap: Garden Friends","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Austin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4529693_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1499455360288","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/jodi-austin"},{"teacherId":4529693,"projectId":9947107,"letterContent":"Thanks to this project, our garden club members set up sprouting jars to take home and a few to grow in my classroom as well. When the sprouts were ready, students stopped by during lunch to check them out and give them a try. There was plenty of initial hesitation, but once a few students tried them, curiosity took over and almost everyone jumped in.\r\n\r\nOne of the best parts was how much interest this sparked outside of Garden Club. My large beginning guitar class was fascinated by how fast the sprouts grew. I think they ate nearly a whole jar by themselves during guitar class!\r\n\r\nBecause we have plenty of seed refills, we're already planning another round of jars for students who want to join Garden Club or try sprouting at home. A few students with backyard chickens are especially excited to grow sprouts for their flocks. We're also talking about doing a cooking collab with the Asian Heritage Club to make Pad Thai with mung beans grown in the classroom.\r\n\r\nWhat I love most is that this project isn't one-and-done. Students now have the skills and supplies to sprout again and again in just a few days. This project reached more students than I expected and created genuine excitement. Thank you to every donor—and to the Maxwell/Hanrahan Foundation for the matching funds—for making this fun, hands-on experience possible.","fullyFundedDate":1765740372535,"projectUrl":"project/grow-with-the-flow-help-our-students-sp/9947107/","projectTitle":"Grow With the Flow: Help Our Students Sprout All Winter!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Austin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4529693_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1499455360288","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/jodi-austin"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_61256","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1786,"numTeachers":130,"percentFrplEligible":55,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":14,"percentWhite":53,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":22,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":4,"gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"13.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":66.7,"schoolId":61256,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about James River High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"James River High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/virginia/chesterfield-county-public-schools/james-river-high-school/61256"}
