Because of your kindness, my students now have a beautiful new bookcase filled with bilingual books, a mobile easel, and a cozy leaf rug that have transformed our learning space.\r\n\r\nThe new bilingual bookcase has quickly become one of the most popular areas in our classroom. My students love having access to books that reflect their languages, cultures, and experiences. During independent reading and partner reading time, students eagerly browse the shelves and proudly share stories with their classmates. Seeing students light up when they find a book they can read and connect with in both English and Spanish has been incredibly rewarding.\r\n\r\nThe mobile easel has become an important part of our daily lessons. We use it during small-group instruction, interactive writing activities, and class discussions. One memorable moment was during a collaborative writing project when students worked together to create a bilingual class story. They took turns adding ideas and illustrations on the easel, and the mobility allowed us to bring the lesson wherever it was needed in the classroom.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, their excitement was immediate. They gathered around the bookcase to explore the new books, and many couldn't wait to start reading. The leaf rug quickly became a favorite spot for reading, partner work, and classroom meetings. Students commented on how cozy and inviting it felt, and it has helped create a welcoming environment where they feel comfortable learning and sharing ideas.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has provided more than just classroom materials—it has created opportunities for engagement, collaboration, and a love of reading. Your generosity has already had a meaningful impact on my students and our daily learning experiences. When the materials arrived, the excitement in the room was immediate. Students were especially thrilled to see the Crayola colored pencils, Model Magic, and scratch-art bookmarks. They eagerly asked when they would be able to use them and began brainstorming creative projects right away.\r\n\r\nThese resources have helped create a more organized, engaging, and student-centered learning environment. The book bins have made it easier for students to independently access and care for classroom materials, while the posters and calendar pocket chart have strengthened our daily routines and reinforced important math and reading strategies. Recently, students used the colored pencils and Model Magic to create visual representations of concepts they were learning, allowing them to demonstrate understanding in creative ways. The sticky easel pads have also encouraged collaboration, as students work together in small groups to share ideas and present their thinking to the class.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, these materials will continue to support hands-on learning opportunities throughout the year. We plan to use the laminator to preserve student-created learning tools and classroom resources, ensuring they can be reused for future lessons. Students are excited to continue working on collaborative projects, creating visual displays, and applying reading and math strategies using the new classroom supports. Since this change has been made, the headphones and the zippered bags came at a perfect time. Students have been more focused on their independent practice time while practicing multiplication and division skills, reading leveled texts and answering comprehension texts and finally practicing independent skill of word sounds, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension through questions. Students have been more focused and have taken more ownership in their learning. I cannot work one on one all the time with students and learning platforms are needed to support student learning so the headphones allow students to not become distracted with outside factors as the headphones cover the ear, they are sound proof and the students do not fight over which one to get as the are labeled for each student. \r\n\r\nMy classroom is using Achieve 3000 and this platform also includes short educational videos that help students understand the text they are reading. It is helpful for students to learn in different modalities and since many already watch videos, the headphones allow for students to concentrate on the information being shared in the videos so they may understand the topic and use the information to answer comprehension questions about compare and contrast, opinion, vocabulary, etc.\r\n\r\nThank you for donating to this project that has helped my English Language Learners and my students who become easily distracted focus on their reading and math skills. I couldn't have done this on my own. These texts have instilled vital skills in students, including understanding and linking literature to our own lives, interpreting character perspectives, and learning as well; their vocabulary in English and Spanish has improved rapidly; and important conversations have emerged around culture, identity, and community. The most important difference they have made is that the books helped students understand that stories reflect many different kinds of lives, modes of speech, and experiences. Reading has become more interactive and personal in our classroom.\r\n\r\n Every time the books arrive, students are connecting them with their families and traditions in their everyday lives. While reading aloud and discussing, students feel comfortable sharing their thoughts, asking questions, conversing, and engaging with one another. The books have allowed students the space to practice their empathy, learn from cultures other than their own, and feel pride in their own identities. The most rewarding moments have been students identifying with the stories.\r\n\r\n Some of my bilingual students became particularly jubilant when reading about characters who spoke Spanish or who lived in families with multiple generations and shared experiences akin to their own. I also have observed students who would otherwise sit in silence during our reading discussions become self-assured, eager participants because they felt connected to the text. These books have done wonders in helping children feel seen, respected, and compelled to read in the classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1758827042582,"projectUrl":"project/5th-grade-multicultural-library/9405487/","projectTitle":"5th Grade Multicultural Library!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lemus","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9464408_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1749531747702","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9464408"},{"teacherId":1655444,"projectId":9610577,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our students have been actively using the STEM bins every Friday afternoon.
