Flexible seating is not just about giving students a comfier place to sit. It allows students to take ownership and responsibility for their own academic success in the classroom. Being able to provide a classroom environment where students can thrive is a goal for any educator. I have slowly but surely been working towards creating a space for flexible seating. There has been a difference with simply allowing students to sit around the room, on the carpet, or standing while working on top of counters around the room. These scholars have become more focused and engaged in their work. Sitting where students feel will most effectively help them learn, has encouraged greater collaboration, communication, and interaction between students and teacher alike. I am certain that with the products I have selected, the results will continue to evolve. The wobble chairs will be perfect for my students who love to move around. It encourages active sitting which will help improve focus. The cushions, while simple, has many benefits for students because it allows them to not have to hold themselves still in chairs. It is also easy to move around the room so students can work in a new environment. The yoga balls will offer a range of motions which will help students to stay on task and seated. I am certain that with these additional seating options, it will have a direct impact on encouraging positive student behavior and learning outcomes.
