The students couldn't wait to get their hands on the books. \r\n\r\nFirst, the theme of most of the books- belonging and being in middle school has been helpful in making the kids feel included and heard. They feel like these books are telling their story.\r\n\r\nAlso, the texts are graphic novels so the student who might struggle on a 6th grade reading level are having success and are engaged with the use of illustrations.
