In groups of just 2 to 3, every single student had their hands on the bricks and their fingers on the keyboard. This structure fostered intense collaboration, taught peer negotiation, and ensured every student developed authentic technical confidence.\r\n\r\nYour donation did not just sit on a classroom shelf; it traveled to the regional competition and propelled a group of determined 5th through 8th graders onto the Championship stage. You gave them the tools, and they proved they have the talent. Some of the plants are placed in places that do not get a lot of light. With the extra light support, the plants are thriving beautifully and students love watching them grow so well. They also help to maintain the plants in the library and learn about plant care at the same time. \r\n\r\nThe motion detection lights are truly amazing at lighting up the dark corner of the library where books shelved under the \"M\" authors (last names starting with M) are difficult to see. With the lights up, I noticed that more students are browsing that section. The lights truly brighten up the corner and make it inviting for students to browse the books. This interdisciplinary project gave students real-world, project-based learning opportunities in circuitry and textile integration. Students were able to meet artistic goals while working in teams and communicating with performing arts partners. The finished costumes elevated the concert's production value and gave participating students confidence and public recognition for their work. Beyond technical skills, this project strengthened cross-curricula collaboration, demonstrated how STEM supports arts and creativity, and inspired other students to explore applied technology. We estimate that over 75 students participated directly.\r\n\r\nYour gift made a visible, creative learning experience possible. The genre label on the book spine helps students to quickly find books that interest them. Some students do not prefer to ask for help. Being able to review the books on the shelves independently and seeing the labels, such as Realistic Fiction, Fantasy, or Manga, helps students to decide whether to pick up the book to browse further. The label protectors are needed to protect the genre labels. Our library squad spend a lot of dedicated time to place the labels carefully on the spine of the books. \r\n\r\nSince our middle school serves Grades 5-8, we need to ensure that we put \"Young Adult\" labels on books meant for the upper grades. The YA labels have been incredibly useful in helping younger students to decide whether they would like to explore the books further. It has been helpful to me when checking books out for students. The YA labeling helps me to quickly gauge whether a specific book should be checked out to a student who is not considered Young Adult yet.\r\n\r\nThank you for your generosity in helping to promote lifelong reading.","fullyFundedDate":1755453660125,"projectUrl":"project/genrefying-school-library-books/9359607/","projectTitle":"Genrefying School Library Books","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Choong","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mei-choong"},{"teacherId":8473653,"projectId":9252689,"letterContent":"Your contribution of the rolling carts, book organizers and Posca pens were put to great use in our middle school library. Our Library Squad was able to shelve books while rolling the book carts around instead of carrying them in their hands. They are so grateful for the ease in carrying on their daily volunteer work and for the \"fun factor\" of being able to roll the carts around.\r\n\r\nThe clear acrylic organizers were perfect to hold book series, as well as fiction and nonfiction collections. Students are able to browse the books easier and be able to view the entire series in one place. The organizers also help to keep the books upright without much effort. The Posca pens were used numerous times for multiple purposes, from labeling items such as laptops and office supplies to decorating materials in the library. Several teachers asked me about these pens and wanted to order them as well.\r\n\r\nThese gifts were much needed to upgrade our school library and made the library visit and browsing experience so much more enjoyable.
