My students are observing our tadpoles daily and recording their growth in science journals, learning how living things change over time. They're also fascinated with the ant farm—watching the tunnels grow has sparked so many questions and discussions about teamwork and habitats. In addition, the life-sized human body magnets have been a big hit during our health and science lessons. Students love taking turns building the body piece by piece on the board while we talk through each organ's role.\r\n\r\nThe reactions were priceless! When the tadpoles arrived, the class crowded around the tank, buzzing with excitement and making predictions about what they would look like as frogs. With the ant farm, there were so many \"oohs\" and \"wows\" as they watched the ants immediately begin digging tunnels. And the human body magnets made the whole class erupt in giggles and amazement—they couldn't wait to put the pieces together and compare the size of the organs to their own bodies.\r\n\r\nNext, my students will continue observing the tadpoles as they grow legs and transition into frogs, connecting their observations to our life cycle unit. With the ant farm, we'll be charting the ants' progress and comparing it to what we've learned about insect behavior. And with the body magnets, students will soon be working in pairs to assemble the body themselves and then share what they've learned about each system with the class.
