Hello, My name is Sherry Marks and I have worked with special students who are diagnosed with severe and profound medical issues for the past 28 years. I service children from three years old until the age of 22. I currently work at Ingram Sowell Elementary School with the Medically Fragile Classroom. I have a total of 15 children this year, of various ages and disabilities. I am wanting to add a sensory area to my classroom in order to improve the children’s visual, auditory, and tactile processing, heighten awareness and improve alertness, as well as, improve fine and gross motor skills. The sensory area will provide a sense of calm and comfort. By integrating a sensory area to my classroom it will hopefully improve the children’s quality of life as each child will perceive affection, support, and respect. These precious children are my heroes, and I want to make a difference in their lives.
