As a first year teacher, much of what you have donated was used to organize the classroom and fulfill some basic necessities in everyday activities. In particular, it has been extremely helpful in organizing student workbooks! The two four square cabinets have been great for getting two class periods workbooks out of a crowded cabinet. The most beneficial have been the black book storage which help the students organize their books by table. Previously, the books were stored in piled in the cabinets which led to many books getting torn. Overall, the students and I have loved the organization and cleanliness provided by the materials. \r\n\r\nIn my math classroom, I love when I can implement lessons that use the Building Thinking Classrooms structure. In order to achieve that, the classroom needs vertical whiteboards to use. When my students saw the Post-It whiteboards, they were surprised and a little skeptical. Once they got to use them, they preferred it over the more cramped placements of others. Additionally, the clipboards were a hit in the classroom as well. Students loved all the colors and that they were now mobile. I will be using these more and more to add a scavenger hunt element to some of the lessons involving many problems. \r\n\r\nI would like to express my gratitude again. Much of my first-year so far has felt like I'm missing many things that would help my students. With access to pencils, paper, and notebooks, students are now able to fully participate in daily reading and writing activities without barriers. Many of my students receive IEP services for reading and writing, and these materials have helped build both their confidence and independence in the classroom. One meaningful moment was seeing students move from relying on sentence starters to independently writing their own complete sentences and organized paragraphs during reading responses and class discussions.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the new materials, they were genuinely excited and eager to use them. Several students immediately organized their notebooks and expressed pride in having supplies of their own to use every day. The simple act of having consistent materials available helped students feel more prepared, included, and motivated to participate in lessons.\r\n\r\nAs we continue our current lessons, students are now focusing on strengthening paragraph writing, reading comprehension, and text-based responses.
