They have had many a-ha moments over the past few months using these tools. One student was able to use the handheld magnifier to look at the classroom hamster without having to get too close! This was a gleeful moment for her. \r\n\r\nAfter some initial training, the students were using the magnifiers for not only reading, but for writing as well. This allowed their eyes to be much less strained throughout the day. This equates to less headaches, less visual fatigue, and much more learning that can take place during the day. \r\n\r\nOne student has been using her magnified line guide as a bookmark in her library book. It has become such a handy tool that she has shown many of her classmates and they also want a magnified line guide! As a teacher of blind and low vision students, I am so excited to see students use these types of low tech tools as just a regular part of their day. They can be left in a book or carried in a backpack and pulled out in school, in a grocery store, or in a restaurant. This is how we make everyday visual moments accessible to people with vision issues.\r\n\r\nI am so grateful for your generosity and helping me to provide important and life-altering tools for my students.
