Tools such as fidget items, textured objects, rocking seats, and calming visual aids have helped students feel more grounded and secure throughout the school day. For students who struggle with transitions, having access to a soft or textured item has offered comfort and reassurance, allowing them to move between activities with greater confidence. These supports have reduced anxiety and increased students' readiness to learn, creating a calmer and more responsive classroom environment.\r\nAdditionally, the use of sensory materials has allowed students with diverse needs to participate more fully and successfully in lessons. For learners who are sensitive to noise or easily overwhelmed, noise-reducing headphones have helped turn moments of frustration into opportunities for calm focus and productivity. By intentionally meeting students' sensory needs, this project has helped remove barriers to learning and foster a more inclusive classroom where students feel supported, understood, and empowered. As a result, students are more engaged, joyful, and capable of reaching their full potential.","fullyFundedDate":1762996610435,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-tools-for-success-supporting-my/9563179/","projectTitle":"Sensory Tools for Success: Supporting My Students With Autism","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Uyere","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10163713_orig.jpg?crop=1072,1072,x7,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755022289633","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10163713"},{"teacherId":4221323,"projectId":9768528,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, my students are actively using the Learning You Can Feel resources every day to support their social-emotional learning, sensory regulation, and early literacy skills. My classroom serves students who benefit from hands-on, calming, and highly engaging materials, and these donations have made a meaningful difference in how students access learning.\r\n\r\nStudents are using the Lakeshore Gel-Bead Emotion Friends during check-ins and small-group lessons to identify and talk about feelings. The tactile nature of the emotion friends helps students stay regulated while learning emotional vocabulary and practicing self-expression. Sensory toys and fidget tools, including push-pop bubble fidgets and silicone stress-relief popping toys, are used during lessons, transitions, and independent work to help students remain focused and calm. One especially powerful moment was watching a student independently choose a sensory tool to self-regulate and then successfully return to a learning task.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their reactions were full of excitement and curiosity. Many students immediately explored the textures, colors, and movement of the items, smiling and asking questions. For some students who often feel overwhelmed, these tools provided comfort and a sense of safety right away. The materials helped reduce anxiety and created a classroom environment where students felt ready to learn.\r\n\r\nThe word-building puzzles, 3-letter word activities, and ABC alphabet owl learning tools are now part of our daily literacy centers. Students are strengthening letter recognition, phonics, and word-building skills while engaging in hands-on play. This form of rapid prototyping encourages iterative problem-solving and enhances comprehension of dimensional relationships that can be difficult to grasp through two-dimensional materials alone.\r\n\r\nMy students have appreciated 3D pens because they provide an engaging and immediate way to bring personal ideas into physical reality.
