The STEM related supplies allowed me to create an exploration for students that I would not have been able to afford without support. In addition, the organizational materials for storing STEAM activities have allowed for a more inviting display and use.\r\n\r\nThe two days of exploration had kids exploring chemical reactions as they painted with vinegar/baking soda, made exploding playdough sculptures and created a bath bomb to take home to encourage continued excitement in the application of how chemistry is used in everyday products. One parent told me that she found her two kids in the kitchen trying to recreate the experience they had during exploration time. They had made a huge mess, but she said she couldn't even get mad because she was just thrilled that they weren't in front of an electronic screen.\r\n\r\nI can't wait to use the remaining STEM kits next month during my reading group. Reading about problems in stories and then creating solutions through guided stem activities will help prepare our students for the future.
