Giving my students the opportunity to work on iPads in small groups or individually would help them by enriching their learning experiences with advanced level apps for those who need it, as well as reinforcing skills and concepts that we teach in second grade. They will gain confidence in their abilities and develop an "I can do it" growth mindset. This technological tool will give them access to math fact fluency, reading fluency, and sight word recognition. Connecting students to apps dedicated to Earth Science and States of Matter would enhance our second grade science curriculum greatly. Using Maps would increase their understanding of their geographical place in our world and would compliment our Social Studies Units on Community and Cartography. Let's face it, these days, students are eager to get their hands on technology and are willing to take big academic risks with those devices if given the opportunity. With your generous donation, I will be able to improve my ability to teach my second graders by building a strong classroom full of actively engaged learners.
