Before the items arrived there were no items for the students to use that made the content more concrete and alive for them. They have expressed that having the items has helped them to really find a love and enjoyment for science that they didn't have before. Before I became the teacher in the anatomy and physiology classroom they had not had a consistent science teacher in 5 years. Students had struggled to really understand the science because there wasn't any science content that was really being taught to the students. When there are substitutes it leaves a feeling of inconsistency for feelings of being unsure if they will do well in a class. Most recently, my students completed a hands-on environmental science project where they created models demonstrating the effects of human impact on local ecosystems. With the new materials, students were able to build interactive, visually compelling displays that made their presentations come alive. One memorable moment was when a group used the resources to simulate a wetland restoration, complete with 3D printed native plant species and a functioning water cycle!\r\n\r\nTheir eyes lit up! There was a genuine wave of excitement and curiosity when I introduced the new supplies. One student said, \"Wait, we really get to use this? This is like a science lab on TV!\" It immediately shifted their level of engagement — they were more focused, more creative, and more confident in exploring challenging scientific idea\r\nNext, students will be using the materials to construct and analyze sustainable energy models. They'll work in teams to investigate different types of renewable energy and propose solutions for making our school more eco-friendly. These resources will be key in helping them prototype their designs and present data in a professional way. As a result, ML's couldn't access the online platforms that were needed for high school students to submit assignments, access their e-mail, and engage in project-based learning. Although the 1 to 1 computer to student ratio existed in theory, the sudden growth of the Woodson ML student population made it challenging for this to happen.\r\n Fast-forwarding to today, now students can access ALL the school provided apps. We don't have to \"borrow\" a computer cart for our classroom anymore. \r\n The I-pads have also opened a whole new world for the students whose parents cannot provide them with these learning tools. We have an interior room, with numerous outlets and good wifi. These new devices last for 2 days before needing to be charged. They are also easy to set up and store after use.\r\n Proficient students use the devices in Argument Writing class. They are finding articles to support their claims. Students in anatomy are creating group projects in Canva about body systems.\r\n We are just beginning to enjoy this wonderful and generous gift, which can be used in many more ways. My hope is to create a class website, where students will publish their writing regarding solutions to global issues we are discussing in Modern World History class.\r\n Thank you to all of you who donated, for believing in my dream to help people who need and deserve equal academic resources.
